Respawn’s Philosophy on Nerfs and Buffs
As a Pathfinder main, I am a little confused as to what Respawn’s official philosophy is regarding character nerfs and buffs.
Is their goal to adjust character attributes that are “unfair”, like hitboxes. Or is their goal to achieve data driven goals (like having all characters have similar win and pick rates)?
A LOT of the nerfs that Pathfinder received were warranted, but I absolutely think they went overboard. So overboard that they now want to remove Low Profile on Pathfinder. So they are now admitting that Pathfinder is actually TOO weak— but it blows my mind that they couldn’t foresee this when they increased his hitbox by 20%.
I’m not even a billion dollar game developer and even I could tell you that increasing his hitbox while simultaneously leaving low profile would be a disaster for the character. And if Pathfinder again creeps into the top 3 or 4 regarding pickrate, are they going to put Low Profile back on?
What the heck is the end goal here?
