Revival Mechanics shallows the game

Prior to the Revival respawn mechanism, players had a lot of choices to make, two of the chief amongst them was 1. do I go for my team mate's banner? and 2. do I run for a respawn beacon or finish the current fire fight first?

With these choices removed, not only is the game shallowed quite a bit, but the quick respawning makes for a more chaotic experience.

When I say shallowed, I mean you have less choices to make, it becomes more linear in thinking, and it becomes a bit more boring overall.

I don't mind if you have it in the hopper, but I would like for the previous BR respawn to be main stay for social/casual.

I really don't like the auto respawn, and I can see it simply driving me away from Apex if it is the only choice.

However, on another note, I would like to point out, that

1. There is now an incentive NOT to kill off knocked players so that they cannot respawn to help their teammates.

2. If you are a third party, there is an incentive to kill off knocked players downed by another team, so that they come back and harass the other team for you.

  • @MrGreenWithAGun The revival system is nice, but I feel like it should of been a LTM.

Also, knocked players can press and hold a button to auto bleedout, (allowing them to jump back into the match quicker). For me, (I'm on PC), this is the crouch/slide key.

I realized the bleedout option is available after I posted.

I know some people will like it, but as I said, it shallows the game by removing choices that players MUST decide between. The less choices, the more linear the experience. I miss the tension of having to make that decision.

  • I absolutely can't stand this game mode and it appears from other forums across the NET, I'm not the only one. This mode doesn't inspire teamwork or comradery. Your team mates never come revive you. Enemies dont ever finish you off, you have to force bleed out. This morning my squad got pinned between to enemy squads. Needless to say, we got killed by the same 2 squads 5 times. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. That's what this game is now insanity. This mode has literally sucked the fun out of this game.  Respawn recently made a statement that it's about the community and what they don't want. Well nobody wants this cluster. It's chaotic, unorganized, and it discourages players from playing as a squad. Hopefully they include BR mode options or I'll be sitting this season out

100% agreed. Revival caters to people with short attention spans and no sense of teamwork (he said without irony). And I will never understand why a player who has been vaporized by someone would want to come right back and give them a second chance. And a third. And a fourth. I had a teammate last night who just dropped hot and died so many times I lost count. He finally quit so he must have got sick of it, but I call that a shockingly high pain threshold.

Yes, bad game type. Needs to go and never come back. Just like straight shot and three strikes.

    @Scarlet_Raven565

I was playing with a couple of guys and I stood off sniping. I missed a couple shots and it pissed them off. They wanted me with them where our team would get eliminated. I was trying to ensure they had a safe respawn location, that they would be able to respawn (because I kept myself safely at a distance), and yet they thought team work meant we all go down together.

They quit rather than respawn on my location.

And when I respawn a safe distance away, I have had some team mates go back to the meat grinder rather than get a better angle on the same opponent.

    SMH...

Revival needs to go. I am sick of it.

I also noticed people are getting higher damage totals as people are respawning back into the meat grinder in hopes to turn the fire fight around.  Like, what the...

Three strikes was heaven. I just wish we could bring back allies who bleed out. Pain in the butt trying to play without a teammate. For that specific mode, I wish they didn't have the bleedout feature. Because you can't grab/craft banner and use beacon to bring them back. Especially when you are on your last strike. They bleedout on the last strike they should be banned from the game for sabotage.

The idea behind it was nice, but the effectiveness was... disappointing.
Especially since they removed banners and beacons.
However, I have gotten more damage and kills in this mode.
When I win, I only have 1-3 kills, but when I lose, I have over 6 kills and over 1000 damage. I like off the grid. If they don't see me, they can't shoot me. I let the ring do most of the work, then finish them off with dual P20s.
However, if I have allies, I try to spot enemies and try to have my drone avoid getting shot. When an opportunity arises, I'll join the fight and finish enemies. Literally. They try to shoot the poor guy in the butt, I'll take over with a finisher. I hate seeing such disrespect. Crack the KDS or use a finisher, don't shoot them in the butt. It's disrespectful.
The lack of honor some of these people have... I can't take it.

I'll show people the respect they deserve. I'll give them their chance with a finisher. If their ally comes, they are saved. If not, free Evo points for me.
Matter of fact, my last match I was paired with two predators. They kept wasting time trying to shoot people in the butt, so I stole at least 6 finishers from them. Why they don't do it when they obviously have the chance, I don't know.
