S16 Aim Assist

Initial take on aim assist is that its too strong, this was my opinion in S1-5ish until I've realized it wasn't really an issue. However, I was trying out controller again a few minutes ago, (in S16), and I've noticed that the aim assist is gliding to players more than it should, like its tracking players faster than it had in previous seasons and is even snapping onto them more. While mouse and keyboard is far better than a controller, this is a concern when in one of my fights, the aim assist corrected my aim more than it should of.

Note: I didn't move the aim analog stick other than slightly down to fight the recoil. Since I'm using a controller, I really do mean slightly down, as its already reduced on a controller. Keep in mind that the PC aim assist values are set to 40%, while console is set to 60%. (The closer you are to 100%, the more aim assist you have, with 100% being aimbot). If the aim assist is this strong at 40%, I can see why players are complaining about console aim assist now.

Also note: all my controller settings are default values. The only thing I remember changing, if any, was the keybinds. I'm also not saying that aim assist is aimbot, just that it feels broken right now.

"Frame by frame", (remember, I'm barely aiming, this is what the aim assist did):

  • (S18) I just tried a controller again on PC while playing in a TDM match, it didn't appear to be showing the issue I was having above, but while shooting straight ahead, anyone who just stood there would of been "beamed", but then again I had an R301, which has little recoil to begin with.

It would appear that at least on PC, EA/Respawn did some balancing already. Note: I didn't change any controller settings, I just plugged it in and used whatever was set from when I tried it in S16.
