S20 Crafting is a step backwards

With the launch of Season 20 crafting items and replicators has changed. They removed the ability to craft attachments, weapons, bags, helmets and instead have 4 items that remain the same. However, this change makes crafters feel boring and useless. Previously when you logged in for the day it was exciting to see what new item has entered the crafter. This resulted in players experimenting with different loadouts and helped lessen the impact of dropping on bad loot. Crafters don't feel worth traveling to anymore unless you are in desperate need of heals. In their current state they can just be removed from the game and wouldn't be missed.

  • @badAtOrigin They were changed to stop people from crafting med kits out of zone, and then they also added something to the ring where if you stay in it, it will deal more damage than the current ring's, just to stop you from camping.

    In other words, blame the 24/7 ranked zone healers for this change.
  • @badAtOrigin This change isn't a step backwards because mostly people weren't using it for crafting weapons but for crafting Evo shields, heals or batteries. Now all the attachments are on the ground you can find it or loot it from someone you killed.
  • The old crafting system was only good for campers and loot goblins who couldn.t get their loot through fights.

    The crafters are perfext at this point, you can0t craft attachments, but they spawn at a higher rate now so you can get the essentials like batteries easily.

  • i like the new crafting , when you need ammo it drop so much of them and at last now you can't abuse med crafting anymore.

    Massive W change for the game.

    I love them, quick and easy to use, no more squads huddling around a replicator for 2-3 minutes slowing everything down.

    To be fair, I myself never really used them a lot, but now I'm using them all the time because they're just so nice to use

    Just my opinion ofc but I must disagree. Crafting has always been a stupid concept, IMO to let bad players get good stuff. I mean, come on; the entire concept of first collecting crafting materials in the same area as the replicator to then run up and get top tier equipment, lacks finess IMO. If crafting was made with dmg dealt as materials would at least make some sense to me, but run around and "collect" is just pointless and boring.

    Also, its stupid that whats randomly on crafting rotation should dictate how player plays the game thus re-balancing the entire game based on whats on rotation. Like when old digithreat was on rotation then suddently Bangalore become much weaker since pretty much all enemy squads had at least one digithreat. 

    I like the new way. Now crafting isnt OP or dictates how you play the game. Its just there, honestly mostly to get your first battery before you start mid game fighting OR to get banners.

    I agree, the crafter should have never made its way to Apex to begin with. In its current state, I would say it is much better. If it has to be there, that is.

    Forgive the show of ignorance, but every time I ever tried to use a crafter outside the circle the game wouldn't let me. Is this a thing where you have to throw down a heat shield to make it work? If so, just how abused could that mechanic be? And who cares anyway? It isn't as if that squad can just camp there for the rest of the match. Eventually they have to make a run for it, right? There is no endless supply of heat shields, unless I missed some map update....

    @reconzero Crafters got changed because of 24/7 ranked zone healers who play with a Lifeline.

    Basically they:

    - Have a Lifeline on the team dropping the drone when they can
    - Get materials to craft nothing but med kits
    - Use heat shields to negate ring damage and place at least top 5 by doing nothing but healing

    Crafters before and now can be used outside of the ring, the difference is that now, each crafter is a ONE time use. So, if you had used a crafter and then its out of the ring, its still a one time use.

    Heat shields used to be IN the crafters when they first got released and players were using bugs, (such as using a Caustic trap), to duplicate heat sheilds. This, as you imagined, allowed players to survive the ring way longer than they should by either crafting or glitching heat shields.

    Honestly, instead of changing the system, they could of just added the, "hey, you got 5 minutes to get into the next ring, or we kill ya" timer, or limited med kit crafting to 1-2 per player. Can't camp outside of the ring, if you aren't given the option to craft more than 1-2 med kits.

    I hope they at least change the crafting to where we can craft 3 items, but it can only be one of the options each. Meaning one med, bat, and ammo PER crafter, or getting a banner instead of one of the 3 other choices. Its a little annoying deciding if you should craft or not when you have a support legend, as you could get yourself a shield battery, however you might need that same replicator to craft a banner. You'll never know, and honestly that's just ugh to me.
