I am in a very similar situation, played since launch and at the time I was really bad at shooters, got progressively better, can't deny that, but at the same time I can be very inconsistent.
Though the level of players I am universally matched against? My average KDA is around 1, yet I am being constantly matched with 20bombs, predators and masters that wipe my squad in seconds no matter the possition we are in, I was never that good and noone in my squad was ever that good.
Currently I am playing with friends that are worse than me at shooters, so one would expect we at least get matched with ppl that are of equivalent skill to me, but nooooo, streamers have to get their 20bombs. And I've seen a number of them complain that they have to sweat in their normal games to get a decent game, well guess what - I have to sweat to even have a chance of staying in a game for more than a minute, 20 drops in a row, because on every mid-to-high trafffic locations there are UFOs of one person that can wipe his bottom with my entire squad if you don't immediatelly focus fire him.
Not to mention constant legit lvl7 characters with 100 kills. Though I get it is hard to deal with smurfs, at the same time if the matchmaking was more fair, maybe ppl would not have a reason to create them.
It is depressing and not fun.
honestly I would pass on instant queue to a match if it just spent a minute searching for a lobby that is more fair, you already lost a lot of players Apex and it will be more, especially on the casual side, if don't give lower skill players a chance.
also I have seen some comments in articles that devs don't take this as seriously because they did not see a large number of complaints for it to be worth investigating.
comment more if you have the same experience so they have to start taking this seriously
