Season 19 Ranked was good and there was a reason for that system

Now we are back to: -every solo queue player can stop playing at diamond IV-, because trying to rank up at diamond with randoms is not possible.

It is not possible, there is no room for a discussion about that.

Season 18-19 was in fact not "ranked" because every rank played together, but the SBMM was so good, that 80% of the matches felt tight and it was fun.

Now, due to the "feedback" by the community, you took a 180 degree turn back to the old system, which is bad, but "better" than season 19 (you thought).

Since Season 11-17 I reached diamond

Season 18 and 19 masters

I play solo queue.

In Season 18 and 19, I played with actual predators or actual master players. It was pretty insane and fun.

Now, as expected, I can't play anymore. I refuse to rat 8/10 matches just to reduce the -80RP penality.

I am tired to see my team mates just die at drop or the first fight.

When I get to the top five with some lucky kills and a halfway good team, I get 50-80RP. I sweat for that 15-20 minutes !!!

--> Then I queue again and get -80 RP in seconds.

I will not run away and craft, respawn my mates, they get killed again, I have to run away, the enemies follow me with a jump tower, I get killed -80RP.

Its just a running away simulator.

And dont forget, the amount of toxic behaviour is at an all time high because many solo queue players having a bad experience too.

S18-S19 was way less toxicity.

It is so tiresome, the matches just never feel tight, it is either luck, or run away from the "gud players"

In my dreams I hear quips "AH I AM DOWN" from all the legends, because that is the Season 20 diamond rank experience.

Season 19 was the best ranked experience I had.

Now I can enjoy toxic team mates again, like in the old days.

Just my feedback.

  • @3rdFloorer In my opinion, the rank system is much better than S19 and a lot of players, (including pros), disliked the S19 ranked system. It made no sense and it heavily punished players who solo q'ed. Everytime I entered the qualifiers to rank up, I would always get teammates who acted like they never played a game before in their whole entire life. Meanwhile the enemy teams were all 2-3 ranks higher than me, pre-stacked, and some of them had cheats enabled.

The issue now, is the matchmaking. The game seems to purposely give you new or bot teammates and put you in matches against the best of the best players, or ones using cheats, expecting you to fully clutch a 1v3 every single fight. This is where you're having the issue. Its the matchmaking, not the system. Sure, S19 kept a lot of awful players in the lower ranks, yet some of them would just get boosted or they played with a cheater. Also, the matchmaking would still give you teammates of a much lower rank on purpose at times. So even when you had hit diamond and up, I'm sure you still saw rookie to gold teammates on your squad from time to time.

In other words: the rank challenges that gatekept players only stopped them from ranking up, but not from being in your matches, either on your team, or on the enemy team.

The game needs to lean more into SBMM rather than EOMM or whatever system it uses. EA/Respawn claims it uses SBMM, but if it truely did use SBMM, I wouldn't be in diamond, master, or pred lobbies 99.9% of the time. I'm more a casual plat player, and I also wouldn't get teammates who are bots or are so bad, they're dead the moment a fight starts. Yet, I do get lower skilled teammates and go up against high skilled enemies, and from what I've heard, I'm not the only one having this issue. A lot of players who post on the forums complain about the exact same issue, which is why I think its a matchmaking problem and not a rank system problem.

  • @3rdFloorer Hidden MMR was bad because you never knew if this player got an easy route to the top or not. One player could have difficult lobbies the entire time.
Being paired with people in the same current rank makes a lot more sense. The issue still remains though that some players can get to a level they are happy with and then grief others games. This could happen in all scenarios though.
  • @3rdFloorerwell that's your case , s17-19 was the worst gaming ranked experience i've ever seen having to play against pred/cheaters from rookie was really a garbage system.
Sbmm should never exist in game especially when the anti cheat doesn't work.

till now the only players i saw defending s19 were ppl playing in bot lobbies.

I dont think that anybody defends Season 19 Ranked.
The feedback was clear, people were not happy because all ranks were playing together, the hidden MMR and the „Win a match barrier“ (promotional matches to rank up one tier)

    Ok bad I agree.

Rookies and Predators could play in the same game, which makes no sense - but it was balanced.

Players of the rookie rank could kill the players currently beeing in the predator rank and reversed.

As I played my way up to masters, I played with all different ranks existing in the game. And it was harder than now in Season 20 but:

    - My random team mates were matched at the skill level of the current lobby including me

Maybe you disliked the fact that you were killed by a predator in season 19 (while you are still playing in silver), but due to the matchmaking you always had a realistic chance to defend and win against this predator / master players. The odds were even.

It was unfair and it makes no sense for ranked - but it never felt like I was having unfair matches.

Every match we played for the win, placement and kills came automatically.

Ok, a hot drop in ranked or a contest with one team - you can do that, that was also the case in S19.

But in Season 20 it is just:

-Hot drop and both randoms die in miliseconds,

    -First fight and die

-Randoms decide to third party but die instantly

-Randoms decide to ape to every gun shot they hear, giving up the best position of all teams (for the KP!!!11)

-Randoms run outside the zone to get kills, but die due to ring damage as soon as ring 3 starts to move (they forgot the distance is too long and they do not have any syringes left)

-Randoms quit the game despite the fact I can respawn them safely

I am always (or always trying to be) in the range to my team to trade a knock with the enemy team or defend a team mate who is under pressure.

But 8/10 matches are just impossible.

I played in the first two weeks and got to Platinum 4.

Then I stopped for the month march, and reached Diamond 4 in 2 days (March 26-28), but D4 is just stupid.

Second split I will just try to do my best, but I do not expect anything.

@3rdFloorer-No it wasn't balanced at all especially when there isn't different Q between solo/duo/trio players , it was the most unfair/unbalanced matchmaking ever.

-random teammates were definitely not in the same skill level of the lobbies , most of them would heal in zone to get free kp instead of playing thanks to the garbage system.

-everyone still hot dropped even in s17-19 since no one cared about rank anymore thanks to hidden mmr.

that's how it was on EU servers at last.
