I think Rainbow Six does this very well. After every match your team has a option to continue playing as a team. Who ever hits this button is put on the team and it continues matchmaking, and if you don't its pops you back into the main hub of the UI and continues matchmaking solo.
THIS so much, i have been in a few random matches where we worked so well together and so wished we could have kept playing together. this game screams for a feature like this.
