Not copy and pasted but the answer to two almost exactly the same posts should be the same, shouldn't it? Because new OPs keeps repeating the same old complaint about "a broken" SBMM as if the SBMM is defined but it isnt. Last Respawn talked about it as far as I know was back in S4 and they NEVER gone into details how a presumed SBMM in this game works. A matchmaking that sorts out the very, very worst but let the rest play in the same lobby IS also a SBMM even though the majority of players will never be affected by it. Also the "low level lobbies", which we know exist, can be seen as a SBMM too. So sure you are right, I should have said "as far as I know, Respawn has never said they use a STRICT skilled based matchmaking in normal game mode". My bad.
Bottom line is that the general threads on SBMM on this forum are stupid since people assume there is a strict SBMM but now is "broken" since they get matched against better opponents than themselves. In my experience, the SBMM for solo players in public games is rather weak. I get teamed WITH useless teammates most of the times, but also get teamed AGAINST useless opponents as well. Usually, most teams are made up of one good and two bad-to-average players. I think the matchmaking is much more affected if you play with premades or solo. i.e a matchmaking that tries to put full squads in the same lobby etc.
@Balladalidila Here is the article from the 2020 EA Play event you should have a look at where the game’s creative director, Chad Grenier goes into some detail about SBMM and it’s future.
