As the others have said sniping has been there since day one.
If you are getting sniped at from 5 teams from 5 different directions your positional play is not optimal. Standing still in the open will have that effect.
Try not leaving yourself exposed should fix the problem at least from 4 of the 5 directions.
I don't understand how people can just talk about how sniping has been there since day one to act as if we are exaggerating.
I have been playing since Season 0. Many of the people I have met in Apex have stopped because of what the game has become. Of course, you're in a wrong spot if you're getting shot from distance by 5 different squads. But the whole point is that it never was like that. Back in the days when we would spot a team in the distance shooting in the valley, we'd get closer. Now, my random teammates are just shooting with their Sentinel or godforsaken Charge Rifle from distance. Throughout the seasons we have also seen an increase in legends that simply promote the camping kind of gameplay like Rampart or this new legend. Also Storm Point was released, a map where in many places an R99 is just useless. And then the weapons, throughout the seasons we have seen the release of weapons like the Charge Rifle (...hate this thing), Sentinel, Bocek, Repeater and now the G7 back in ground loot. It's true that sniping has been there since day one. But since these last couple of seasons the community is being pushed into long-distance combat along with camping a lot. Apex in the first few seasons wasn't known for that. It is slowly becoming a different game. I used to tell my friends who were playing Warzone and Battlefield that I don't enjoy those games because I prefer action-packed close combat gameplay. But the only shooter I'm playing is becoming yet another one of those BR's, slowly losing its unique identity.
And stop acting like sniper meta isn't a thing, why the hell would so many people complain about it then? I'm not as pessimistic to say that the game is destroyed. It just needs a push back towards where it came from. Give us back a bit of that game we all enjoyed because of its continuous action.

I will definitely agree with you in the sense that the developer clearly has tried (and is trying) to push various different behaviors and metas, and I agree that it's annoying. They should just put all the tools in the box and let players decide how best to use them or whether to use them at all. Every time they make a decision to push a particular playstyle, or a particular number of engagements per minute, or a particular meta, they end up screwing 90% of the player base so the other 10% can say, "Finally, this is the way it was always supposed to be." And it isn't. More than any other kind of shooter, Battle Royale is supposed to be all things to all people. The biggest canvas, the most weapons, different legends to accomodate different playstyles. It actually surprises me to see them push a sniper meta since sniping is one form of gameplay they have actively sat on up until now.
- @Asmodeus566 This I disagree with. There are matches where positioning just does not matter. I have been caught in the middle of 5 teams just sniping and there is nowhere to rotate to avoid it. The game has had a drastic change when it comes to snipers this season. If in ranked on kc its a sniper fest. Usually 2 of the 3 running some type of mid range or long range weapon. So for me I put in tons of games each season and even though we are only weeks into this season I notice a huge difference. As mentioned apex was mostly an up close and personal game. Where movement mattered. So while positioning could be a factor there are times you just are pinned even if your in a good position. Where you then are sniped to death from multiple teams who decided lets stop fighting each other and focus on this team.
I see what you mean and occasionally one may have the per se best position and at the same time worst because they are surrounded by teams and all the teams focus them for some reason.
Yup there really is no escaping that. But really how often does that happen, in the past and now. for me in the past maybe once or twice currently in the new season not yet.
The OP suggests that this is happening repeatedly to them. All I can say to that, is game sense and positioning is king and knowing when to retreat instead of stay for a losing fight is the thing to do and that is, in truth, generally the case, yes there are outliers and situations that are non escapable and beyond planning but that is not the majority of cases.
I almost never have been pinned down without the possibility of being able to escape and reposition.

- @Asmodeus566 This season it happens to me if i was to put a range on it 80% of my ranked matches. 20% being 3v3 or even 3v6. It def is not an isolated game. It happens nearly every match just that extra 20% that's how many times I'm able to escape it. So I agree with OP it happens nearly every game. I am not one to comment on these type of posts but I will say I personally in my lobbies see a mass load of snipers.
