@Balladalidila I've gotten those kinds of teammates as well, except in some cases there was no other team nearby, and they waited the whole bleedout timer to expire to then loot my box because when we landed they saw me land on purple armor, near a gold gun, and a gold extended mag, and they wanted to be greedy. One was an Octane, the other was a Wraith, so go figure that they wanted what they didn't find.
The game thought I had so much fun, it gave me them as randoms two more times. Its frustrating that in most games when you block and report a player, you'll stop seeing them, but in Apex it doesn't care you didn't like being treated badly. Which reporting in general is pointless, as I would report bad names, bad communication (if I saw or heard it), etc. and get countless "we didn't take action" emails.
At this point, it doesn't bother me as much anymore, since I would withdraw from fights when I notice the randoms are playing like they're in a Discord call, (especially if they're doing things like looting out from under me). Not to mention that the communication filter is always set to "friends only", unless I feel like they could be communicated with, (which rarely happens).
Moral of the story: Treat others how you want to be treated.
I would share loot sometimes, (be it better attachments or armor), and the duos I get were more likely to help me back when I needed help. Most of the time I don't because they're just running off a lot.
Luckily, at least in my experience, getting teamed with such toxic premade duo is quite rare and it almost only happens in low rank lobbies and never in plat+. The main reason why people choose to act like this can be summarized in one word: SMURFING. If everyone just played at their actual peak rank, they couldnt afford to act like this, because the only chance you have to perform when literally everyone in the lobby can one-clip anyone else, is to try to work as a team. But since so many in each ranked lobby just mess around on alt accounts, they dont care about those things. Having fun with their premade buddy is infinitely more important than performing well as a team.
So I blame Respawn for it. They should make a ranked system which makes it virtually impossible to smurf. Start with things like ranking up overperformer much faster. I see no valid reason what so ever to NOT give someone who does 4000 dmg and get 15 kills in a match an instant 2-3 ranks promotion. They should also have harder restriction in ranks between premade duos (so often you see a bronze4 together with a gold1 in your plat lobby and such duo NEVER tryhard).

When they came out with the hidden MMR system, they had pretty much said, "if you go up against higher MMR players, and you win despite the odds, you'll get more points to rank up quicker".
What this meant was that if you're in the rookie rank, and you squad wipe a full gold squad, you'll get points to rank up to at least silver, if not gold a lot sooner. What ends up happening is that you got little to no points if you didn't place top 10, let alone 5. (I'm talking about in S17 here). Then in S18 and S19, they seemed to have done away with any bonuses you get from the matches all together.
If the "hidden MMR" matches us up in "lobbies with players of similar MMR", that means that most of us should be pred players, if not masters or diamonds. I cannot tell you how many times I've loaded into a bronze and silver ranked match, and the champion team is a full pre-stack diamond, masters, and/or pred team, with countless of smurfs running around the matches, and players using obvious cheats.
If the game thinks one can 1v3 a cheating, smurfing, or diamond/masters/pred squad, it should at least fast track that player to a higher rank instead of bullying them by going, "hahahah you lose points cuz you died!"
Not to mention the fact that none of the randoms seem to be useful 99.9% of the time. Like, why have a "MMR" system, if the game is just going to give you two teammates that play as if they just downloaded the game?- 2 years ago
Its oddly satisfying after not playing for several weeks that the devs still refuse to fix SBMM still (or even mentioning any plans on fixing it). Means i made the right choice of stepping away from apex.
Just way too stressful, not worth my time or money for a game struggling to keep its community happy. And for what?... So the devs can get a perfect bell-curve rank distribution? At what cost though?... Your losing hundreds and thousands of players because you want a more perfect distribution. You keep players in gold/ plat. by placing them against masters/ preds. RIP.
I know this forum is meant for feedback.. so heres my 2-cents...
QUICK TIP for solo's struggling in rank trials... around 5 or 6 games prior to reaching trials, DO NOT shoot your gun. Try and rat to final ring and play for placement. As long as you have 0-damage and lose.. the game will reward you with strong MMR players. GL HF

Haha what a stupid system it is if thats actually how the MMR works. I would hope that the hidden MMR is calculated on more variables than gunfire, like placement i relation to the MMR of your lobby etc etc. There was such MMR dumping exploit in Arenas where you could intentionally lose one match hard, like afking the entire match, and then get 2-3 easier matches after than, thus "taking one step back and two steps forward" so to speak. If Respawn aren totally incompetent, one would think they had erased this kind of exploit from ranked hrmmm
Anyhow; I am not the first one to jump to such conclusion that easy since Ive spent my entire life in the world of research/science etc but hrmm I gonna admit that Ive had some very fishy matchmakings during my promotion trials haha. Both my Gold and Platinum promos, I lost my first matches hard, like got two teammates that died with 0 to 100 dmg dealt. But in both promos, when I just had one or two tries left and almost had given up, I was randomly (or not??) matched WITH two good players in a lobby which, from our POV, seemed to be very easy and we managed to stomp the match with 15-20 squad kills and 2-3000 dmg dealt each..
So am I well aware that two promo runs are not enough data to draw any real conclusions. It could just have been statistics tbh; you are quite likely to actually randomly get matched with two good players 20% of your matches etc. But yeah... seems a bit fishy this MM =)
