Some thoughts about the Sentinel.

I would like to share some thoughts about the Sentinel.

The Sentinel is designed as a slow, precision-based sniper rifle that rewards accuracy and preparation. Because charging the weapon requires resources and planning, I believe its charged state should have a greater impact on the battlefield.

The problem is that after the early game, most players have Blue Armor or better. At that point, even a fully charged Sentinel often cannot create the kind of game-changing moment that its design seems to promise. Landing a difficult shot with a slow-firing sniper should feel more rewarding than it currently does.

I'm not suggesting that the Sentinel should be able to one-shot Purple Armor players. That would likely be too strong and frustrating to play against.

Instead, I think a new Hop-Up could be introduced specifically for the Sentinel. This attachment could allow a fully charged Sentinel to knock a player with Blue Armor in a single headshot, while still requiring perfect accuracy, proper timing, and the cost of charging the weapon. Purple Armor players would still survive, preserving counterplay and keeping late-game balance.

This would give the Sentinel a stronger identity without making it oppressive. It would reward skill and preparation while allowing the weapon to remain relevant beyond the early stages of a match.

Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.

  • Sorry but I can't hold back not saying that you are clearly talking from one man superstar perspective in 3 player team game.

    1. Senti is crazy op in early game = 1 shot 1 kill on white and blue. Perfect.
    2. Senti still does 88 damage on body which is basically unmissable if you have at least some skill and 158 is still massive even on purple = 200-158=42 basically teammates need to add 1 bullet each and player is down
    3. Plus for whatever freaking reason it seems to be freaking accurate in hipfire especially if you use controller comparing to longbow or kraber not to mention basically unusable chargy

What I find odd with Senti is the bullet velocity thing. I am really good at static target micro and switching, regularly posting scores above top10% in aim trainers on those scenarios -> I come to Apex and miss every shot with Wingman longer than 20m and am sub par with Senti as well, at the same time 30-30 connects like crazy and Bow used to be even better (I don't know what they did with it but I can't hit a shot with it anymore, freaking controller crybabies got their wish again I guess).

So for me if Senti as charged super sniper would have 158 with fixed bullet mechanics of insta-hit (as that thing is charged and should shoot projectiles like lazer beams) would be more than enough but what I feel is that there is still some freaking bullet drop even on charged version and major inconsistencies due to whatever servers or something.

p.s. totally agree with reconzero about current Longbow actually being better than senti unless you some aimgod / have cracked the game / play as most cheaters with aimbot and senti that does not miss. Longbow with occasional 110 and faster shooting rate is more reliable to average player.

I see where you're headed with this and I can honestly say that I admire your attempt to give the weapon "a stronger identity without making it oppressive." But I feel like the amount of power that would bring the sentinel to the brink of oppression without going over the line... is probably different for every player you talk to.

Over all I would say the developer feels pretty strongly that the sniper meta is not one they want to encourage. Which explains why the sentinel is where it is right now. And the kraber. And the charge rifle. Even the longbow has been in a stronger place than it is currently.

I don't want to make any arguments one way or the other, but I will say that a one-shot-one-down weapon is a cheater's wet dream. And that's something the game might be better off without. Maybe? Maybe not.... The other thing I'll say is that the developer seems to have made their opinion pretty clear, and I wouldn't expect any major changes any time soon since the power of a sniper weapon has nothing to do with speed or mobility, and those are the only things they seem to care about anymore.
