Streamline the process to report a bad performance server
With the dev blog released about server performance and the game's netcode in general, I was surprised about some aspects that took over 2 years to become a thing, but mainly positive in finally seeing a better and faster approach to mitigate issues and keep the game experience consistent.
Although showing the ServerID in the performance stats is helpful to report a match where the server was underperforming, I think there's still more to be done. As of now, I'm writting this topic because my last match was choppy due to server issues (confirmed by my squadmates). You can figure out that it's a process that requires saving the ServerID of that match (requires to have performance statistics on) and writing the topic itself (which I find pointless just to write 2/3 things on it) or contacting the right EA support channel (DM twitter, live chat, etc), both of which require quite some time. Someone lazy would just give up, leaving data from an issue to be digged up and an instance that doesn't proportion a good gameplay experience.
That said, I would tackle the problem to make it easier for both players and IT/Devs. Simply create an option ingame (when pressing tab or esc) that shows the menu to report the server.
That would help on 4 aspecs:
- The player only needs a few seconds instead of a few minutes to submit an issue report;
- The support staff gets less tickets/messages as this process is done automatically instead
- The data sent is only the needed one, meaning the player doesn't have to bother on what to give (for example, giving the ServerID only, instead of the ServerID, time of playing, platform, PlayerID, etc)
- Only "true" submissions get on the IT/Devs inbox. This doesn't mean the player is wrong. Instead, after submiting the issue, it's automatically done a log/form file based on metrics (that I hope that exist) that determine if the server was behaving between the acceptable values determined by Respawn or not.
Overall, making the process of letting the staff know about server issues streamlined would allow players to provide feedback on a server issue with the click of a few buttons and the IT/Devs to get much more data, and all of it useful for investigation and further tweaking. Hope it's already in the works or that it can be implemented soon enough
PS: The actual report I wanted to make. Ranked match in World's Edge around 18:28 GMT, SID: 8203:900:00000000 Experience issues: gameplay was choppy, as experienced by my squadmates
PS 2:I had to do some changes in this post so it could be acceped (some words were redacted, even though its usage was legitimate). Sorry for any trouble regarding readability :/
