If you want to classify heros on this game as tanks, support and assassins you MUST give tanks more HP, especially considering the hitbox size of the "tanks".
Literally every other game I know of that classifies heros like this gives the tanks more hp
No he needs passive armour. Not gun sheild that basically does nothing in all fights since 50 armour doesnt even tank more than 1 click of a shotgun, thats if they dont click on feet or heads. The sheild bubble should not allow enemies to go inside or be placed when enemies are near, the bubble 100% of the time is just rushed leaving it completely useless, everyone just dances in and out with the huge hitbox advantage its situational use is long range sniper fights, which being the large glowing target and your the larger hitbox you cant win. Gibratar clearly needs reworked. Now i agree he has the best ulti in the game, ive won a few games just because of it. But the whole match i must hide behind my team mates the entire fight with a sniper, i feel useless, a big distraction, a walking hitbox.
These changes would suddenly make him very viable while not making him overpowered.
Caustic is fine hes a camper god, the gas is very strong at getting free hits, hes large but i notice i barely got hit compared to Gibraltar.
Caustic i won very quickly matches by hiting his ult in enemy fire fights, gas traps are great in any house situation. Ive seen very strong caustic mains, never seen a single good Gibraltar.
My personal opinion is that they simply do away with the multiple sized hit boxes. That is the source of the problem when it comes to some of these characters. A good idea in theory, horrible one in practice...
I agree that there should me more HP for tanks, although I have an alternative idea. Maybe that HP box that loses health first can be bulked where it's either a little bigger (x1.2/x1.5/x2) or maybe they could just spawn with an extra bar that has a certain size to help especially for one-on-ones at the start of the game. To counter this they could be slightly slower at pulling the trigger and aiming since they are in fact 'slow' compared to other characters.
This is amplified by the fact that there is apparently no movement acceleration in this game. So ad spamming with an already smaller hitbox is just better.
giving them more armor/health would do more harm than good clip size is already a major factor in getting a kill do you realy want a gib busting thru the door and soaking a full mag and still be standing while you reload as there team comes in after them?
An HP buff to tanks would be a bad move IMO because it's going to give them a huge early game advantage against everyone else.
The only way to make up for their hitboxes is to give them a damage reduction in the 10-15% range. because it is a percentage reduction it will have the same effect early game and light and it will scale vs weapon damage
I still think giving any kind of buff to health or a damage reduction would be a bad idea as it would open the door to brain dead tactics of having the tanky guys soak damage fast guys clean up
and limit punishment for bad plays.
@LuckyCanuckLuke Considering caustic is twice as big as wraith and Gib is 2.5x as big as wraith, their hp pool or tankyness should directly correlate. Therefore either she gets half their hp (and all other small legends get a "hp balance pass" or Caustic and Gib get twice her hp (or 50% damage reduction). They didn't think far when they made characters have such a discrepancy in terms of character sizes and now it's bitting them in the *. Look at ANY competitive shooter and everybody has the exact same character model for a reason. In games like overwatch with real character classes, huge characters (dubbed "tanks") are actually tanky and harder to bring down (they can have, what, like 4 to 5 times the hp pool of a DPS character) while smaller characters need to dodge and strafe if they don't want to be quickly vaporized and that's exactly how it should be.
Add the ridiculously bad and over-the-top A-D-A-D speed to a small character model like wraith and lifeline and you got the MASSIVE problem that we have in Apex. If you don't play a small character, you are doomed to be at a permanent disadvantage and it boggles my mind that the devs didn't even THOUGHT about this issue before releasing the game. It's like they never played overwatch.
@MASTERBAIT3R Well, that's exactly the role of having a tanky/defensive character.
again doing a HP buff rather than a damager reduction means that the tanks would be crazy over powered at drop phase
