With armor you can generally see what they are wearing anyway. You can see what colour shields they have and I just ping every helmet blue and upwards just in case they're rocking a level 1. It would be nice to be able to see what weapons people are using though. Mostly I play with work friends so they tell me what they are running and I'll leave certain ammo/attachments for them to pick up.
Honestly I just tend to ping everything when I run solo just incase but having a better team gear readout would be a welcome addition.
