Tell-Tale Signs of a Cheater
I have read a bunch of posts regarding the crazy increase in cheaters within the game. Being a day 1 player, with one account, and 12K games played, I agree. Some of the poor decisions brought by Respawn in Season 6 (like getting melted by 7 energy weapons with turbochargers at once) + cheaters is destroying the game. The community has stated this loud and clearly and now some of the top pros are rage quitting the game (like Shroud yesterday after 3 games).
All that being said, in an effort to be constructive, lets use this post as a definitive guide for how Respawn may be able to programmaticly identify suspected cheaters.Of course, there may be legit players that fall into some of these suggested signs, but logic would dictate that a good portion of the players that fall under one or more of these observations is most likely cheating. Here are my basic observations on how I would identify a cheater. Please feel free to add/amend the list:
1) Account level <5 with triple digits kills and a 20 kill badge (or for a cheater with virtually no skill, a 3xs squad wipe badge)
2) Average K/D increases 50%+ in a short period of time
3) Average damage per game goes up 50%+ in a short period of time
4) Zero recoil without attachments
5) Hit Accuracy is anywhere north of 60%
6) Player consistently marks enemies with no line of sight from 200+ meters away
7) Time between kills - not sure if this is measured, but logic would dictate that a cheater can squad wipe quickly. If a player is consistently killing an entire sqaud quickly, that would be suspicious.
8) Player stops moving, without cover, waits 1-2 seconds, then magically pings an enemy with no line of sight
9) A non-tracker character magically finds a hiding player when no movement or sounds was made to give away position
10) Kills from distance - if a player is taking opponents out from 150+ meters with a P2020, dude is cheating.
Look, like I said, legit good players may fall into one or more of the above categories. However, in an effort to be constructive, I am hoping the community can provide some constructive feedback for Respawn to narrow down a population of players who exhibit some of the tell-tale signs of cheating.The bad decisions made in season 6 will hopefully be addressed in time. If Respawn doesnt take a harder line on identifying and banning cheaters, the game will continue to lose legit and loyal players, and will eventually die.
