The Apex Legends "Experience"

Hi.

Firstly hi people of the Apex forum. I have been playing this game since somewhere season 16, I have around 370 hours in the game, I play ranked 95% of time. My Apex "lifetime" KP is 0.7 somthing and this season currently 1.0 something, my winrate is not really high but I think I have a decent amount top 5s compared to general Apex population. Now this is my first post here, I open this forum from time to time to see whats up. I play games for entertainment.

I like(d) Apex for one sole reason and that is why I played despite all the terribleness, I like the movement, gunplay, game dynamic and its only battle royale I find some enjoyment playing.

Since I started it was quite ok I guess, getting used to the feel and flow. Then upon reaching level 20 I started playing ranked since 90% of PUB games up until that point was quite amazing, my teammates used 0 communication not even a ping let alone a mic or text chat. They literally either go own way or die of drop in less than 20 seconds and insta leave, and maybe sometimes they stayed until i got their banner and then left immediately after I jumped mountains to get their banner, It has happened numerous times they leave when Im 30 meters away from respawn beacon..So that annoyed me as hell so I went to ranked since there is at least something to play for, there is some sort of sense of progression and people dont insta leave when they downed or dead.

It was fun at first, teammates were ok, games were ok , got some good game wins. Then after a while I started getting teammates that cant even run forward properly, let alone do anything in the shooting aspect, 80% of time my teammates have payable skins, those heirlooms and can barely do 90 damage or even get a knock, it rare but it happens but not often. Last season I slowly made it to diamond since i dont really play a lot and it was hard I must say, that "rat to masters" disease plagued my match make like crazy, more then half the time one teammate always either left his/hers own way or did absolutely nothing in every stage of the game, just being there kind of and ran at first shots fired. So yeah season 17 was quite stupid, then at around half the season I stopped getting any points for kills, 0 points for "skill" and 0 bonus points, all I was getting was placement points with some 2% of games that I got some KP regardless of placement , I got KP when i was 7th with 2 kills, and got none KP when 1st with 7 kills.

And now season 18, nothing changed pretty much, teammates are completely useless 90% of time, I dont it seems people play "loading screen simulator" and "shop" instead of battle roayle, the new pointing system is awful, they amount of points you get is simply to small, mind that I get for kill 1-19 KP regardless the number of kills/assists or placement, I win a game with 16 team kills(i have 5) and I got 159 points, I mean Im just speechless. Then Im being put in console lobbies more than often than not, and since last week Im in console lobby every other game, Im on PC and on mouse and keyboard...I really dont get it, it was fine previous seasons I saw a console player on my team or champ banner maybe once every 15 games or so, then I dont know if this is hand-hold Aim Assist or something else, I get fried instantly more than half the time 0.2 seconds when in 40meters or less from opponent my only advantage is if i dont close the distance and stay midrange and use a sniper or assault rifle, its really funny when me and opponent have the same gun, I am the first that starts shooting and they empty the clip two times faster than me, while their accuracy is 99% somehow of which most shots that hit me are headshots... Even from PC players most of my teammates are on controllers, my enemies are on controllers, basically a MNK player to get matched with me is a unicorn at this point.

I would to really know what are devs doing with this game, because it seems not much. Every season and major update since I started I am getting worse team mates with every game, with some rare exceptions like 1 in 20 games, majority they are usually a duo who cant even do the same damage as me together, they KO no one, they usualy stand in one place and maybe even shoot few times while I battle 2 people up close and get shot from 200 away from 2 different directions...Its like this almost every game. Im constantly playing against people who one clip me in less than a second, most of times while not even looking at me or coming from behind, fyi there is literally no enemy sound in aprrox 100 degree angle from behind, I hear my teammates constantly from all directions but enemies nope. Octane and Horizon are 100% silent when behind me also their Q and Ults have no sound whatsoever 99% time regardless of position.

This game is plagued with terrible player base, almost everybody I encounter in this game is so amazingly stupid and aggressive and rude, regardless of situations, makes no sense - just yesterday this was funny as hell - me+duo(one on console ofc) they hot drop us somewhat we kill first team one gets downed, new teams comes I get knocked 3rd guy still alive and I type in chat "RUN, 2 more teams - craft us somewhere" and instantly the guy starts calling me "trash, *, I suck , how much damage have I done.." - and this went on for about 2 minutes and this is "silver 2 lobby"... like what - how braindead can you be that this is your response to a teammate for giving you info, I dont know but how come I keep getting brainless team mates that dont communicate well they only yell in mics and insult when they die and do nothing I mean..., they steal weapons in front of you, do no damage, no knocks nothing. I really thought that MM is to pair similar skilled players with eachother vs eachother but i guess not. I guess this so called "system" just does not work at all in any aspect.

Im sick of stupid people being constantly on my team who cannot even understand the ABC basics. Im sick of being in console lobbies, Im sick of aim assist killing me in every game, Im sick of the lack of audio, Im sick of not getting points for my hard earned kills and placements, Im sick of no core issue is being addressed or fixed for that matter. Playing this game has become utterly pointless. This game is braindead on life support just like 80% of its addicted player base that plays loading screens, loot and use shop and Im 100% certain it will only keep getting even worse. Ever growing pool of AimAssist warriors, people with 30 accounts, people puking slurs in mics, this is just idiotic. 1 in 20 games is what every game should be team properly matched vs properly matched opponents. I dont care if we die 18th or 4th or win as long as we play as team and fight as team and try to do our best.

Well, I can only welcome you to our illustrious club of disappointed average players. Although, I've been playing the game since S3 and may be below average...took a break (forever?) after S17.

Your experience of gameplay has been shared by many before you and posted on the forums. But either Respawn doesn't want or can't make the game "good" again.

So my advice to you:
Escape while you still can. Find another shooter. I did too and my frustration with my poor performance, teammates, loot and matchmaking is almost gone.
If you really want to keep playing Apex, then you should definitely mute the entire team at the beginning of each round (unless you're playing with friends, of course ;-) ).
In S17, I still enjoyed mixtape the most, but it has gotten worse and worse. But BR has become unplayable.

You should have experienced the game from S8 to S12. That was REALLY good.

Sounds like you are sick of a lot of stuff. I share in your misery and am sick and tired of being sick and tired. My recommendation is to just stop playing until they make changes that people enjoy. Until then, EA published a solid game back in 1999 called Medal of Honor.

There a couple of things going on here. First, no one will argue with you over the changes to ranked. Whatever it is the dev was trying to do with these changes, all they've succeeded in doing is frustrating people. This is one of many, many reasons why I have almost never played ranked, and will certainly not start now. Pubs may be a sewer, but I guess I'm just used to the smell.

The other thing going on here - the quality of your squadmates - is a result of two things. First, you're solo queueing and ALL team-based games hate solo queue players. Fact of life. You (and I) are basically offering ourselves up as squadmates to every random newb and bad attitude player in the game. The other related issue is that over the course of a few seasons you have improved enough at the game that your mediocre and inexperienced teammates stand out all the more as completely useless. Anyone who can solo to, what was it? Diamond? ...is doing pretty good. Especially when you didn't start four and half years ago as many of us did. I hate to say, "just find a squad," but that's the nature of every single team-based game I've ever played.

All that said, it may be time to take a break before you've invested any more time in something that may or may not come around to what you'd like it to be. And take pity on day one players who are 24,000 matches into the game with no very clear exit strategy!

@reconzero Here's the thing, the game hates you if you're solo, duos, or trios.

Solos - Both teammates are awful 99.9% of the time until that "one game", where they're actually good, all enemy players are diamonds-pred players until that "one game" where they act like they're bots.

TLDR Solos: Your teammates are basically bots and the enemy teams are the top 15-30% or so of the players until the game decides to let you win.

Duos - The game will give you a 3rd that's either a bot, AFK, etc. more often than not, and the chances of that "one good game" is more slim. Enemy teams are often masters-pred players until that "one good game", where they play like bots or a mix of real bronze-gold players.

TLDR Duos: Your 3rd teammate is so bad, it makes the two randoms from solos look like a joke, enemy teams are more often the top 10-15% of players until the game decides to let you win.

Trios - Might as well sacrifice yourself to Fade now, because you're going to be constantly pitted against pred level players, and from my experience, that includes the pros and the ALGs pros

TLDR Trios: Hope you like the ALGs, (even though S18's matchmaking is now the ALGs for all players across all matches)

The game uses EOMM, (Engagement Optimized Matchmaking) not SBMM, (Skill Based Matchmaking). From how things played out, and continues to be playing out, its clear that its designed to drag your face in the dirt, making you feel like you "gotta do better", using that "one good game" as a carrot on a stick, which fun fact, most people get off after their first win of the day because if they keep playing, the game will punish them with harsher games since they got their win high, and that's to make them think they're in harder lobbies and they got to do better.

This is toxic for the game's health.

@what_did_u_do Well said. One clipping happens to me 99% of the time so i just report one clippers as aimbots, that simple. And the next game and the next game... Apex is remotely fun only in Mix tape because of the fast action.

@Salo_MnK One clipping isn’t a sign of aim botting, if your movement is predictable/standing out in the open it’s going to happen

@lilbabyjoe69Nobody said I am standing still while being one-clipped. Issue is that I am one clipped while doing anything in the game (behind obstacles, while sliding, climbing, doing all the crazy moves). It is like the opponent has 500ms benefit at the beginning if his/her clipping and I detect someone shooting me by dying so the info of being one clipped arrives in one package (so basically I lose 97% of all the one-to-ones in Trio or Ranked). Mix tape is different, its a completely new game to me as I can win 1-to-3's and its even possible to get away while someone is shooting. That indicates that EA's servers are infected or most of the players I play against are cheating or aimbotters. Either way, it shows me that opponent is aimbotting/cheating so reporting is a good option before doing it again in the next game. I have a bit over 3000 hours on the game so I pretty much have learned the small nyaces in the game that makes all the difference.

@Salo_MnK My experience is exactly the same.
No matter how hard I am using covers or jumping, sliding, moving constantly - when enemy "locks" onto me I am dead in under one second.
THEN I spectate this person and he can't even AIM properly!
Every single time when I am beamed this happens.

For me, unranked is a terrible experience because players quit too quickly. I'd love to play unranked more, but going at it solo after my teammates quite every match isn't enjoyable. So, I've been forced to play ranked as ppl don't quite as much there.

And I say it again, because of all the stupidity, give us a Solo mod, so we don't play with bad players, we can play the game alone, and not worry about anyone else but ourselves.
And yes, we've all heard the reasons of the past about Solo mode, ok, we get it, but we never had a Solo Mode in this game that lasted an entire Season or two, so we can get a good feel for it.
So let's stop bashing on the concepts about what was before, and let's get a Solo Mode in this game for a season or two.
It's not costing us the player-base anything off our backs to give it a go, we have nothing to loose by trying for a seaons or two! 😉
