The Rampage Should Not Have Come Back

Apex was all around a more enjoyable experience without the rampage in the game. This gun can hit for 75 in three body shots, and doesn’t really have recoil. This gun was an overall mistake, having any lmg that isn’t punished by recoil makes this game just feel like any other shooter where you just hold angles and wait. Especially charged up? This gun is terrible for the game

    Thanks for the post @MightYackem, I've moved this over to the Weapons Feedback section.

    The Rampage didn't return without some changes, so do let us know how those feel once you've had a chance to play around with it a bit more. 🙂

    @EA_Mako

    The Rampage plays a little differently now that the dmg has been reduced per bullet. That in itself does not impact the weapon to much but just enough.

    The bigger change, and it is noticeable is the length that the charge lasts. I feel that this balances the weapon a lot is impactful and makes players decide if and when to use the charge.

    I like the change so far.

    Lets see how it pans out for the rest of the season.

  • my enjoyment of apex since it came back this week has gone down hill. the 2dmg nerf was not enough ive died to that gun so many times it does way too much damage, has 0 recoil & effective at all ranges, Ive used it myself just to test the changes and again doesnt feel like a nerf, it feels like it takes the same amount of bullets to kill people. Im hoping this is the weapon that gets moved to the care package next season. its so frustrating dying to that gun.

  • @EA_Mako There hasn't been a change. If you could do math at all you would have realized it still takes the same exact amount of bullets to kill someone at each shield level.

    @chiefthunderball Correct! That 2 damage doesn't change the amount of bullets it takes to knock. Do the math. It sounds sorta good on paper (not really as 2 damage decrease is still not enough for that gun) ....but applied - the 2 damage changes nothing.
  • oh I can tell you how the rampage plays. It takes half a braincell to use. you can have a certain illness that makes your hands shake uncontrollably and still reach top 50 pred all because of that gun. it is annoying to go against because it kills WAY too fast and the chance of finding it is easier than landing on the map. It should have remained in the crafter or better yet: Removed from the game and deleted all files on the weapon. Worst decision ever to bring that gun to the game. So many people hate Warzone because of Meta weapons and then you implement it in a game that was a safehaven from that. Way to ruin the game.

     I'll have to disagree here. The rate of fire for this is 300 and 390 when it's revved up. Similarly, the damage is 130/169 per second. It ranks about middle of other long arms in comparison. Third column is damage, fourth is dps, fifth is RPM and sixth is mag size:

    3.2s/3.8s

    The balance with Rampage comes at needing to carry around nades, making this more likely a pick for someone like Fuse or Rampart. The slow rate of fire without it being revved up is almost one-half of the slowest weapon this chart-- the Spitfire.

    So to isolate this gun for removal simply on its lack of recoil and how much damage it can do in three shots really obscures the weaknesses of this gun, of which there are plenty. I rarely see a Rampage in play in later games, and it's often the same tier of pickup alongside prowlers and RE-45's.

    tl;dr If anything, the Rampage needs a buff. Avoiding its shots and not dying to it require that someone be in cover or moving erratically, typically.
