Playerbase dropped by 17% in June… this season is a disaster, in July the playerbase will probably drop by another 20%.
The season is definitely not great, though keep in mind that a part of this drop was to be expected.
A few seasons ago the game hit the highest player peak and well, it's not really always that easy to keep the highest peak of the game.
Currently it's shifting between the average players for it's lifespan and a bit below that, though I think we'll need roughly another month of statistics to see how it'll actually go.
This is also just the playcount for Steam, so it doesn't really say a lot about the overall playerbase as players could switch platforms and so forth.
- 3 years ago@XHelperZ Well but that’s how statistics work, you take a big enough sample and you take that as the overall drop %
So we can expect that the overall playerbase dropped by that 17%
And I don’t really care about the prior peak, if the playerbase drops by almost 20% in a single month then there is a problem, especially considering that the trend seem to continue to atleast next season wich is another month.
Why should it be expected for the playerbase to drop like this ? If they would do the right decisions the game would grow and not drop.- XHelperZ3 years agoHero+
This sample isn't random though, this only includes the Steam playerbase so it's not really going to be that accurate.
We don't even know if these players moved to a different platform or of they left, so these are 2 factors that would contribute to it becoming more of an assumption than a statistical probability.
The playerbase had roughly a 46% increase on the Steam platform, which resulted in them hitting a new all time peak in the game.
It's not possible to constantly keep the highest player peak, especially in the current stage of the game where it's unlikely to hit new heights like that.
Statistically it's expected for the game to settle at the average for it's lifetime, as those players typically come due to a specific thing, which could become dull after a while or because they played the game as a one-off thing.
Even deducting the recent % of player losses, with the previous all-time peak it would still result in a net-positive.
24 hour peaks are still pretty much average and not that bad honestly.
You can't realistically keep everyone happy with a game, compromises are made and so forth.
This current season seems like it's more used to lay some groundwork, so it's pretty much expected that players would also drop with something like this.
If they were aware that they couldn't keep the peak amount of players then this was a great decision, because they knew the playercount would drop either way, so they used it to make a season to lay some groundwork so they can make some good changes in the next season.
If the playerbase continues to drop in the next season then it would definitely be time to ring some alarm bells, though if it settles then it isn't that problematic.
- 3 years ago@XHelperZ Why should that sample not be accurate ? If anything then that sample would only be flawed because usually pc players are more committed than console players. And nah man people will not get off steam to play the game on a different launcher. You might find a 3 digit amount of confused people but that’s it.

@XHelperZLol do you understand how dumb you look by making excuses for this ranked season? It’s awful and everyone knows it. When you get people constantly NOT playing (not shooting their gun, just sitting on a rock) because it’s easier to rank that way then there is no defense.
Move on buddy- XHelperZ3 years agoHero+
It's a biased sample as it only includes a part of the playerbase.
You can say the playcount for Steam is decreasing though that doesn't say anything for the entire playerbase.
PC players being more committed than Console players seems like it would be more of an assumption as there isn't any exact proof to back that up.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that this season definitely is one of the worse ones, though it's a bit to early to say that the playcount is decreasing due to their choices.
I'm not making any excuses for it at all.
I've heard from plenty of players that they've been enjoying the ranked changes.
Doesn't mean it's not flawed at all, there are definitely a lot of things they have to make.
I do agree that this season isn't that great, though as I mentioned previously, I believe that this season is more intended to lay groundwork for improvement.
You can't exactly make a gigantic overhaul of the system and expect it to go well, so it's best to allocate a season for such changes.
Not confirmed of course, though that would mean that this season was pretty much intended to flop so they could work with different things in the future.
Not 100% flawed though as some players have mentioned that they like the changes, though a lot of tweaks are in place so this system will function normally.
It's already confirmed there will be ranked changes in the next season, so feedback has been heard and hopefully the next season will bring a much better system.

@XHelperZthe truth is that it is a sample of the normal playerbase…
You believe that pc players quit and console players don’t ? Doesn’t make any sense really.
Pc players are 100% more committed that’s just how it always has been, nearly every top console player moves to pc at some point, pc is just better there is no but if Blabla console is for casuals, just the limitations a console brings are enough to make serious people swap.
Want prove ? Here you go:
Season 16 split 2:
Pc:
Rp for pred = 39800
13400 masters/pred
Ps:
Rp for pred = 20800
3800 master/pred
Xbox:
Rp for pred = 17600
1800 master/pred
Literrly half the rp…
The most surprising here is actually that it seems like that the console playerbase is much smaller then I expected more than twice as many masters on pc lol
