This is the first time I've encountered being hacked.

So someone else is using my account

*This is the appeal case that I sent to EA, might as well post it here.

First and foremost, I have quit Apex since Season 7. My friends contacted me the other day if they wanted me to play because they noticed, I was always playing on my own (solo queueing) the past few days. First thought that came to mind was that, "how?" I haven't touched this game for months and apparently I'm online and playing?. So first thing that I did was to change my steam acc password, and then after that I updated my Apex and launched the game. The opening screen was a Register button, it asked me to reset my Origin Account password, and so I did successfully. So I proceeded to continue, loaded up in my account and lo and behold there are a lot of things that seemed off already.

Evidence 1: I was lvl 7 on the battle pass.

r/apexlegends - This is the first time I've encounted being hacked.

Evidence 2: My weekly challenges are progressing

Evidence 3: Valkyrie is bought (I have not touched the game since season 7)

Evidence 4: I have not used any of my Apex coins I have accumulated after finishing the BP in Season 7 (and I have "50")

Supporting Evidence 4.2 : In the free BP, they give you 100 yellow coins at lvl 5 (I'm lvl 7, and I'm at 50 yellow coins atm)

r/apexlegends - This is the first time I've encounted being hacked.

Evidence 6: I have 50 total games this season (Again, I haven't touched this game in months.)

Evidence 7: In the Timeline for the Club where you can see the members game activity where it normally sais "(IGN) just placed FOURTH in Trios!", for mine it sais "FforREESPECT (my ign) just placed FIFTH in *Chinese Characters or some other language*". (Only languages I speak is English and Filipino)

Evidence 8: You can clearly see the spike in game activity in my account in the Club Timeline, You can't see my name for 2 weeks in the timeline and then BOOM, my game activity just spiked.

Evidence 9: I checked the season 9 "kills this season" tracker in the Battle pass, apparently this dude is a Horizon main, with 115 kills... damn. The hacker also used Wraith, Octane, and obvs Valkyrie. (I don't really use the characters cited that much except for Octane)

This is my first time encountering something like this, keep in mind, I have not given any of my important credentials to anyone else, and I sure as hell don't personally know anyone chinese.

Please do help me here, I'm really scared of what this hacker might do next to me, because as far as I know, I don't see a hacked issue or something anywhere outside of apex.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Is there even any chances that I could salvage my account? I have spent countless hours into this game with this account, and losing it would really really suck.
Any help would very much be appreciated!

Update: 5-17-2021

So I didn't play a single game yesterday 'cause I was too infuriated and paranoid at how my account got breached, decided to play a game of apex and... I'm banned, theory being the hacker who used my account used some kind of cheats and it concluded to my account being banned. Nice.

  • @FforREESPECTMake an appeal if you want to get unbanned over at help.ea, and put a 2-step verification on your email, origin, and steam.

From my understanding, what's been happening to people is that their password gets cracked, they visited a site that logged the password, opened emails they shouldn't, had a weak password, was signed in on a public PC, etc.

I would still put a two step verification on your accounts. Also if you downloaded anything you don't know or really trust, uninstall it and run a virus scan, it's possible something on your PC let them get the password. (Basically if you download the wrong thing, you could end up with a Trojan, virus, etc. Which could do things like log keystrokes, spam ads (usually the ones for 18+), play annoying audio, etc. If you notice anything off with your PC, this could be it, even if you don't play a game that got affected.

Typically inactive and highly progressed accounts are most saught after by people who are wishing to breach them. Inactive means a free for all, and that they literally can't be stopped by the account owner, as the owner stopped playing, while hacking into a highly progressed account can allow them to simply sell it, which isn't allowed by the TOS, or ruin the player's credibility, assuming they're a streamer or a pro.

    Essentially:

    1) Contact EA

    2) 2-Step your accounts

    3) Run scans on your PC (which I usually do, just to be on the safe side)

EA should also be able to see suspicious account activity, such as where you logged in from, and you can see that on your EA account page, which should be here: https://myaccount.ea.com/cp-ui/aboutme/index once you're there, click "security", and scroll down, you should see what platform signed in and from where. My page shows a bunch of browser logins (Here on AHQ), origin and steam).

  • @FforREESPECT Change your password into a strong one. This will make anybody else using your account unable to login. I suggest a strong 10 letter+ randomly generated with special characters. (A password manager like bitwarden helps)

@FforREESPECT Mhm. I'm a week 1 player, and put 2-step on everything that I can, and haven't had an issue. There were times where it said I was already logged in or another thing occured, and I've contacted EA and was told no one was on my account and even my account page said the only logins where from me. So that was a EA or server issue.

@FforREESPECTI went ahead and contacted EA to have them look at the account, but they asked for you to contact them about it. Probably because they usually ask for the email associated with the account and such. I guess even if you don't play the game, it's still best to get the ban removed to avoid issues later or to join your friends if a season becomes too fun to miss out on.

  • @FforREESPECTBack when I played Fortnite the same thing happened to me, I tried multiple passwords couldn’t get logged in then saw where someone in Taiwan tried accessing my email but google blocked it but regardless they still managed to change the password to my epic games account but I caught it about 2 hours after it happened and as far as I know no damage was done (at least to fortnite because there were no replays and stuff)

Anyways I reset my passwords, enabled 2 factor authentication and also did it on my other accounts just to be safe, and made sure to change my password on any other websites that may of been using the same password

I contacted support and then all they did was made me change my password a second time... lol
