What's wrong with trying to improve less than desirable situation?!?

What's wrong with science? law enforcement? Technology?
I mean all these useless thing came from people who didn't want to toughen up and tried to find an easier better solution!
I am not sure "shut up and toughen up" is... what made us human what we are today... Nor something I would ever take for an answer...
