Toxic voice chat?

I like playing apex every now and then, I casually enjoy the game.

I'm not the best, for sure. I don't aim to be either. But almost every play session some random dude goes off at me in the voice chat.

Low key just quit playing today after a berate of hate speech. It's quite toxic.

I have reported some players, but I can see anything being done.

Is this every online experience or just apex?

It depends on the online experience and other aspects surrounding it. From my experience, most online games have an issue in one way or another when it comes down to toxicity.

Despite this, there is a solution. In Apex, go into the settings. Then under the main tab, you'll want to scroll down until you see "Communications Filter". Once you find it, switch it to "Friends Only", or "No One". This will either mute anyone not on your friends list automatically or everyone, (including your friends).

It does have a few issues, but its been working for me. These issues are:

    - Players you manually unmuted tend to stay unmuted, (but if you get them as teammates again later, you can manually mute them and they will remain muted from then on).

    - In Mixtape, it sometimes doesn't mute teammates who aren't on your squad, in which you may hear them talk or see their text chat after the match. (This happens because for some reason when a Mixtape match ends, it merges everyone who was on your team into the same communications channel). But, it does seem to have been fixed as I haven't had it happen in a while.

  • The voice chat being uncountable to report for banning people is actually an apex only thing. Most of the toxicity has been switched from text to voice since a long time. Since then nobody of the officials has cared enough on this matter.

Don´t hope that they will change that attitude any time soon.

You do know that in Apex you can turn on voice to text and the voice Toxicity can be captured. Be aware your voice will be sent to the other players as text as well.

Also if you record it you can then send it in to EA help as a report outside of the game.

However just so you know do not post stuff you want to report here on AHQ as this is not the place to report.

Here is the link for reporting outside of the game:

How To Enable & Disable Text To Speech In Apex Legends PC - YouTube

As you can see, i don´t have this option to turn voice to text and vice versa. (german client)

So i´m bound not to be able to report people being rude in voice with ingame features as they are not implemented on my language client or don´t get displayed. This situation persist at least since season 19 which i started again. ( season 0 account right here but inactive since season 2 because speedhackers + esp took over whole s1 and s2)

I guess it´s the same for others who don´t have the us / uk client.

@Asmodeus566 I think that setting is only for players who has the game's language set to English. It does have a slight problem where it doesn't always transcribe exactly what players say. (If you ever used voice to text on your phone, it does the exact same thing where it gets confused on what you had actually said).

@AlteSchepperhand For now, I would disable the voice and text chat entirely. In your settings, its the option labled "Kommunikationsfilter".

    @AlteSchepperhand

I live and play out of Germany, however I have the game language set for English.

I notice your English seems to be pretty good.

Just switch your game language and then you will have the voice to text option. It does not matter where you are physically located just what language pack you use.

  • @Asmodeus566All good, i just wanted to point out that this option isn´t a standard for some people. It may seem like it but i´m really uncomfortable in using another languange than my native being it written and especially spoken hence why i try to avoid setting clients or stuff to english. Maybe i try it for scientific purposes :P

@Midnight9746 About the filter i´ll stick with it otherwise i wouldn´t know whom to report and i like to punish people who misbehave in an inappropriate manner. 😉

So, that´s enough highjacking OP`s thread from my side.

  • Most online pvp games will be filled with toxicity. Either have thick skin or in apex you can manually mute people when you go into your inventory, then squads, and you can click mic icons on your teammates banners to mute them.

@AlteSchepperhand That makes sense. For me, its not that I don't want these players to be punished, its more so that I would rather there be complete silence over toxicity.

You're good. What you have to say relates to the topic of the thread.
