Hello dear Apex Legends/EA team, i thank you with the high tollerance and diversity you show in games with adding LGBT characters and others character, like the latest hero Catalyst.Sadly it looks like, that it is not allowed to call myself TransGirl (i am transgender) in Apex Legends, because i got a accountwide week-suspension for the Steamname (TransGirl Elyia) i used before.The reason which was written and told me is "hateful behavior". Even Catalyst calls herself (grim) trans witch, which is nearly the same, and i didn't attack or show hate to someone with this name. I hope you can look over my feedback, that in times like today transpeople like me dont need to hide.Greetings, Elyia

I’m just saying you might be missing something good.Having thick skin just happens after you’ve been told to 🔪 yourself a couple times, it makes the game more enjoyable when you try to evaluate why someone is the way they are by asking them questions about their comment 🤣

@BAL-Elyia Yeah, respawn try's to stop hate, but they come off as hateful. I recently found out the word gay is censored, but there are still people using voice chat to call people the f-slur and facing no consequences.

@OldTreeCreeper As I said in that thread, I unfortunately have no evidence that it happened as Xbox can’t record in came chat, I now however do have VoIP on. Also the main problem in this situation isn’t the community, it’s respawns actions to prevent toxicity. Although it prevents some it, it does a bad job of doing so, and prevents actual positive impact by being a block all, and also not providing a solution for mic offenders unless you screenshot the VoIP. I like to keep chat on as I find the experience is mostly positive or indifferent, only occasionally do I hear the crazies. I had a wholesome experience yesterday in date night duos, and another in ranked arenas which ended up leading to a wholesome 3 stack of laughs.If you shut out everything, sure you block the bad, but you also hide from the good, sharing an experience with someone can make your day, you just can’t let the bad people ruin it. (That being said, I feel that only applies to adults and older children, as young children are still impresionable, and may pick up words that a better left behind.)I do think respawn needs to mange the issue better, not just flat out banning all references to particular demographics, which can be seen as discrimination.

@BigMacAttack8u it's such a difficult thing to get right.How can you deal in text chat with the nuances of any specific word that can be used as a slur or not? I prefer to think of it as advertised, as a safe environment, until such time as the difference can be assertained, I prefer a zero tolerance. What other method could you suggest? For me its preferable that the idea that no one individual is being hurt, that the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many, in this case. And I would expect the many to be very understanding of this. Not everyone has a thick skin when it comes at you out of the blue. The cast of legends alone, puts respawn well out of the area of discrimination imo.I choose to play the way of the ping for many reasons, not just to keep toxicity at bay. I'm playing a game I want to enjoy, and I enjoy the way I play the game. I'm not shutting anything out, as the ping is there for other squad members to use, and I find it a more than adequate method of communication for the game. I'm not really there to socialise. That's a good idea, if I understand what Voip is. But does that not inofitself also indicate that you expect verbal abuse at any and all the time. That's not for me, I never have to expect it.

@OldTreeCreeper I would recommend that respawn deal with reports as they come in, we already know that the entire chat history of your game is logged, so why not have it sent over to be reviewed whenever there is a related report? That way they can determine whether it’s abuse or just regular. Same thing with voice chat, the VoIP is recorded for the entire match, and kept in the chat history, (idk if they can actually record the mic audio) what if they just VoIP the mic talk, then review that, generally swears come through pretty clearly, and mistakes are rarely made when it comes to those words in VoIP.

I choose to have VoIP on because I feel that if I can help filter the community into something more positive then it is my duty to do so. (Also there is a difference between wholesome swearing and malicious swearing, like when someone says: good 💩 vs if they said: your 💩 I do not report wholesome swearing, as I don’t think that can harm anyone, and if they don’t like it they can turn it off like you have.) Sorry for the large parentheses. Also turning off mic and chat limits the gameplay potential, and also you lose the opportunity to have your day brightened. Lastly, thick skin forms from repeated burns.

I understand where you are coming from.
However if EA took action on the gamer tag I would suggest changing the gamer tag so that this does not happen to you again.
After you have done that try reaching out to EA via EA help in order to discuss the issue.

@BAL-Elyia Has nothing to do with trans people having to hide, but with people missusing it.

Don’t understand why you would want to call yourself transgirl in your gamertag in the first place, it does nothing good for you, it only exposes you to people that have issues with it.
I also don’t call myself bornheteroman matze or dad of two children Matze, there is no benefit to do that.

I have been playing for years with no chat and don't see it as limiting game potential. It's second nature to me now.
My day is brightened by playing the game, not by the possibility of some positive random social interaction 😃
I hope I'm getting what you said correctly, but there is no need for a thick skin to be formed imo.
And yes the voice chat should be recorded too, by Respawn, and used for reporting purposes.

@matzesingt i know what you mean with "why you would want to call yourself ..." but it was part of my coming out i had last year, to beat the fears i had to hide it. I was never hateful to someone or with my gamertag. In my eyes it is sad that the hero Catalyst can call herself trans witch and i am not allowed to call me trans girl, its a bit paradox. Is it then even forbidden to play Catalyst when she says this? Today its nearly like that every word is somehow not allowed anymore. I just hope the world gets a bit more tollerant and open minded.
