I'd really like to see videos to accompany these situations people are complaining about. It's all too easy to say "i got the drop, unloaded a clip, but he turned and killed me", but the video won't lie about how much of that clip landed in the enemy, and what kind of tactics were employed. Configure shadowplay, hit the instant replay button.
Add me to the list of people who love the TTK in this game. Shotguns aside, the longer TTK makes 1v1 combat much more exciting to experience and to watch. In most games where I see a flanking teammate get wrecked when trying to flank, it's not because TTK was too long, but because he used bad positioning and put himself into a 1v3. Whether he knocks one enemy or not, he gets wrecked by enemy team because he got tunnel vision and separated from his team. (and I understand, because I do it sometimes as well)
I typically tell new players "if your teammates can't shoot you, you are too far away", because the game is about team combat. As players get better, they can relax this and use movement and kiting to survive long enough for their team to join the fight. (or they get good enough to 1v3 the untalented squads)
For sure, shotguns are the king of CQC in APEX. Personally, I'm not in love with the RNG of shotgun jump fights, but I consider this a problem with Peacekeeper 1-2HK, not other weapons being too long. I wish the PK bullet spread increased a bit to make it easier to hit, but harder or impossible to 1-2HK. I'd also like to see the PK clip reduced, or shot-to-shot timing increased, so it's less forgiving when someone misses. The EVA8 feels more like a shotgun should (giving or receiving), though it too could have the spread increased slightly for my tastes. Overall though, I'm not complaining. If you're not packing a shotgun, use your weapon's strength and stay out of CQC. With good attachments the engagement range of autos are much further than shotguns.
