So essentially you want to turn a defensive legend into an offensive one? Sure, why not. But we have enough offensive heroes. We lack proper defensive ones. Sure, a defensive style isn't for everyone, and a single squad member who prefers mobility will ruin any defensive play style. But let me tell you that a proper defensive squad brings you further than any offensive attempt to rack up kills.
However, having an equally coordinated offensive squad essentially decimates us due to the limitations given in terms of defensive playing. Because having fences, gas bombs and shields isn't all that great if no foothold is given. You basically fight on thin ice, even if all abilities are used. That's the sad part. Sitting on a distance with snipers or using an L-Star and rush into houses already firing is a way to go, sadly the best one, too.
@Peri_Longbow_plzGibraltar is mainly a defensive legend, he still got an offensive ability and it isn't made him mainly offensive. So just because wattson may got an offensive ability or mobility, this wouldn't make her offensive, her pylon will remain until it's destroyed/replaced. So she would remain mainly defensive, but could help her to switch playstyle to another, in situations.
It may reduce this slow play style. I think so.

The genuine question that arises however: Why is a slow/defensive play style wrong?
A slower and more cautious style of approaching this game has both a benefit and a downside. The benefit is that the probability of being in crossfires is much lower. Another benefit is also that you have more time to loot. The downside of course is that holding a ground somewhere is difficult if you get actually assaulted. Why? As I said, lack of defensive capabilities that give proper defense.
People may disagree, and I get that. But most defensive heroes are unfortunately lacking. And this frustrates players such as my squad and me. We have no counter play going on. Sure, we may def up a place well and nice, but it's nothing compared to an assault group who simply knows how to disable traps and fences. And before you know it, you get shot in the back, especially because some people have an aim that rivals Lucky Luke.
A good example of us being on the assault side was two days ago. A squad of 3 people hid inside a house. Everything trapped up. They didn't stand a chance. Lack of cover on the interior, lack of damage from the traps, we had an easy time just spraying bullets inside and ultimately eliminating the squad.

@Peri_Longbow_plzGood example, I had that on both sides, mostly the camper side got destroyed if only 2 team left. But if there is more than 2 team and the circle isn't on the building. that another story and the most common one.
BattleRoyals aren't meant to be "Im sitting in the house with the boys", that why there is a moving circle. You have change your position time to time for purposes like loot, third(+) party, better position over other teams.
Change my mind :D
I understand that having a better position is wattson's responsibility. But seeing only fortresses on the map, is bad. Wattson got only one attribute, and this is defense. As you said most defensive heroes are lacking. This is bad, because they shouldn't.- 6 years ago
You are right, Battle Royale style games are meant to be played on a mobile basis. But if I'm lucky enough to sit in the next ring, and maybe the one after that, why would I have to move? In most cases, having a bit of armor and a sufficiently supplied weapon is enough to 'camp' a house for a while. Even if it's not for long, but that little bit of protection from the open space is exactly what supplies a good level of strategic defense. And having a fortress to fight against equally has a weakness. The fight only happens around or inside of it, but never far away from it. Not engaging in the first place is what saves you the trouble of being sniped or shot down while approaching. Even if your attacked fortress happens to be in the next ring, the one after that might just end their stationary endeavors and force them outside, which makes them prone to attacks if they're specialized on defense.
But that exactly is what I'm talking about. The defense factor lacks encouragement. In almost every team I see a pathfinder. He is mobile, agile, evasive. A skilled pathfinder could take out a whole squad who currently camp a house and probably have enough health left to do the same with the next squad. And that kind of is an issue. While I see no reason to 'punish' skilled players, it doesn't take much to crumble the defense of a squad. I come across that specific example more than enough times. We can be as prepared as we want to, the Likelihood of us getting successfully ambushed is high if going through a fence or gas trap is basically not enough to prevent enemies from considering that frontal attack in the first place. The ring gets smaller anyway, eventually either is forced to attack or retreat, and that's alright.
- 6 years ago@DraknasChan What offensive ability? The only offensive ability he has is his ultimate, and even then it does kind of depend on the circumstance. You can drop it and drop your dome in order to scare off attackers.
Also, replacing one of her main defensive abilities with something offensive would make her more offensive. It would basically be kind of like Wraith, who doesn’t exactly have an offensive ability but is an offensive character. Pretty much any character with a movement ability become an offense character.
Yeah, slow, defensive play styles are boring, but it’s a battle royale. There will be people camping a house because they want to win.- 6 years ago
"What offensive ability? The only offensive ability he has is his ultimate, and even then it does kind of depend on the circumstance. You can drop it and drop your dome in order to scare off attackers."
-Technically and in practice, it is an offensive ability, the usage only matters of the situation, just because I cant hit anyone with a weapon, its still a weapon. Does it makes him, mainly offencive, no it doesn't. Bangalore can hide herself with smoke for defense purposes, does it makes her defensive class? I dont think so. Just because both of them got one ability which has different style, that doesn't mean bangalore is from now a defensive or gibraltar an offensive class.
"Pretty much any character with a movement ability become an offense character."
-I agree somewhat, but if we replace gibraltar's ultimate with a zipline/jump pad/portal, does he becomes mainly offensive?
-It's hard to tell from a character if its offensive or defensive, that's why some games use pentagon/hexagon statistics. Wraith's passive and tactical is survival abilities, but the tactical can be used as offensive/defensive ability, her ultimate is a team gadget with survival ability...etc
Here is a great example how useless the fences are, once you don't have time to set them up in the middle of the fight: https://youtu.be/hmw-Mfk2eRw?t=3559

Well, Bangalore’s smoke can be used offensively. Toss it on an enemy squad and they won’t know heads from tails. This is really good if you are running, or if you have a sniper dig-threat. Plus, Bangalore does speed up when shot at.
Gibraltar is defensive, and I was trying to show that his Ultimate wasn’t exactly offensive, as you said Gibraltar got an offensive ability and I wasn’t exactly certain which ability you were talking about. Not sure why I did that, but oh well.
Well yeah, if you make Gibraltar a lot more mobile, he’d become a siege character, and be kind of a juggernaut. If he could jump pad into a fight, he could outgun a lot of people. He wouldn’t necessarily be mainly offensive, but he would become a big offense character.
Watson’s ult is defensive, but it isn’t something that would make Wattson a defensive character. In a regular game, (with a Wattson with a movement tactical), she’d be less defensive and more healer/damage dealer. Probably would be very aggressive, and if they rush a team, the Wattson may just put the Pylon in a corner for your team and then go off to fight. It wouldn’t be defensive, but more like a permanent heal station.
In your clip, the problem is less that Wattson didn’t have enough time to set up their traps, and more that her traps literally can’t go through a Gibraltar Dome. (I think this also applies to Caustic) If Wattson could put her traps through the dome, then what they were trying to do might’ve worked. Wattson can also deploy her traps nearly instantaneously, so it isn’t really that they don’t have time.
Also, that clip seemed to be more of Wattson trying to play offense, which she isn’t really meant for as a defense character.
