The new system is far more punishing on cowards, which I like. Yes, teams can land with nobody to avoid early game fights, but if everyone in the lobby did that, they wouldn't be getting anything anyway. With the new point system, early game kills don't make teams go positive because they carry no weight, which puts a huge dampener on obnoxious players that just wanted to zerg a squad in the beginning of the game and then hide like scared animals for the rest of it. In my matches, there are no longer 16 full squads camping in every available crack on round 3 (true story), or 10 squads flailing about like chickens in the second to last ring (also true story). And mind you, this is on a largest map. I love this new system. It filters out obnoxious gameplay and rewards skill and participation.
