What made YOU quit apex?

For the people that quit or barely play anymore but still visit this sub what was the reason you dropped off from the game?

What made me quit after 6000 hours?
    - Getting traded after every 1v1 kill or chased down by 2 teammates while low hp.
    - Getting rushed down by a squad of 3 and killed, not being able to get 1v1
    - No modes where you can play without relying on a team what so ever

What else bothered me during but not enough to quit?
    - Skill based matchmaking in CASUAL based just on actual aiming skill and that follows only the top player in the team, not the average of the squad. If you want to play with people your own level instead of random, isnt that what RANKED is for? It is a bad experience every time pretty much unless I play with 3 other people that also are equally skilled, and those are pretty hard to find with 6k hours in the game.
    - Hitbox and escape skill nerfs for Wraith, Pathfinder etc.
    - Not dealing with oppressive no-skill weapons that can oneshot like PK for months and months when everyone in the community knew it was making the game less skillful and complained about it.
    - Aim assist and crossplay staying in the game (not really bothered me its just stupid)
    - Knowing how many is using hacks to even out the odds against getting rushed down by many (that you cant see or hear because of bad audio), or recoil hacks to make it fair mnk vs controller etc. And playing on a 35k kill account, not being able to do any of that without losing my account myself, so basically playing at a disadvantage but cheaters never really bothered me in the game tbh. From what Ive heard; 70% of active players uses some kind of performance enhancing software or hardware.
    - Balancing weapons to weaken the ones that require skill and practice and strenghtening the ones that require no skill or aim to utilize to the point that skill becomes obselete.
    - Getting no love in northern EU for servers that provide good ping.
    - Making the ranking system all about placement, then changing it for the better in season 3 just to make it more placement again.
    - Having to rat around after your teammates die for up to 20 minutes every game, then losing all the RP you saved right as you drop next game.
    - Getting punched out using masters divetrail by squads of 3 that decide to land on you and force a 3v1 fight where you cant use your aim.
    - Buying a 4090 to upgrade my system and not getting better FPS than I had on a 400 dollar card from 2020.
    - Not being able to impress any of my friends with my skills at any point, and the forced team modes as the only option always making me look and feel bad.

  • "netcode" that suddenly changes during fights or certain encounters.

You play and game-feel is normal, suddenly You encounter a team that should win and I am slow down to a crawl and they are moving normally. Like wth is even this?

All of this happening on low ping servers like 50ms without any network issues.

Basically when this happens I know I can just disconnect because it's impossible to win when I am crippled like that.

  • @EA_Pulsar
Cheaters made me stop spending money for gaming.

Would never spend a dime in game like Apex,

would never buy any game ever again.

Too many cheaters, FEELS LIKE GETTING SCAMMED.

    ---

You like money dont you ?
And what about patching atleast 1st page of Google cheats huh ? :D

  • @vy2t15kfno9nThis is fascinating. I had never heard of EOMM before. Probably because until I began playing Apex, I never played an EA game before.

    Fascinating.

So as I read through the EOMM research paper, it seems that it is saying that the difference between random matchmaking (no thought in pairing players) yields about 2% less engagement than EOMM. It seems that this is an argument for not wasting any time in developing any kind of match making system at all, just randomly group people together and you will save a lot of money and have almost the same outcome as a complex, expensive EOMM system.

    Or am I misreading it?

If this is true, it indicates that the matchmaking system itself plays next to no part in retaining players; rather it is the game play itself.

Personally, I like the Halo 3 SBMM where you have unique 50-scale rankings in social and in competitive playlists. Simple, honest, transparent, and drives players to grind up to 50.

  • I climbed to a professional level and was even invited to a major by ea. Thousands of hours of aim training and comm practice with teammates. We found that players who put thousands of less hours in the game were out performing us with aim assist.

Our org disbanned and contracts expired. I can vouch that aim assist alone destroyed 3 professional careers. It’s not balanced and professional players say it’s not balanced.

Other than it not being balanced and feeling overpowered.. the proof is that it’s statistically imbalanced.

If you want to be a professional you’re forced to play with aim assist. The last people on mouse and keyboard on a professional level are being phased out or are adapting by swapping to aim assist inputs.

We quit because of the lack of transparency and communication by EA and its developers. The stale content of aim assisted players being rewarded; and we couldn’t envision a time when mouse and keyboard would ever be viable again. So we gave up and threw away thousands of hours of our lives. Turns out it was the right decision; EA and Respawn devs are still ignoring aim assist and the data behind it to this day with no plans to change such imbalances.

Its poor design competitively, company leadership, communications and community involvement make Apex Legends a bad product for investment. Organizations should and will leave apex when a better alternative with competitive integrity comes along.

Sorry for a reply to a three month old post, but I only just saw it. You and I have very different recollections of how the H3 ranking system worked and how it interfaced with sbmm. I thought it was the worst system I'd ever seen, far too easy to manipulate. Manipulating it up wasn't easy, but plenty of people bought accounts or got their higher-skilled friends to carry them. And when the day came that you got tired of grinding against players of equal or higher skill? Just de-rank to the level of your choice and go to town. By the end of that game the number next to the gamertag had almost to relation to or bearing on the skill of the player you were about to face. It was a fiasco. Or anyway that's how I remember it.

And I know this is strictly a recon thing, but there isn't or ever has been any force in the universe that could drive me to grind a rank ladder. Halo was the game that proved to me indisputably that ranks are a feather on a string and you the player are the cat that swipes madly away, and you get the feather when the people holding feel like screwing with you, and it got taken away just as fast, and often for things you couldn't even comprehend or for factors that were out of your control. Rank ladders are a head game, and even when you're moving up you're not winning. You're always there for someone else's benefit.

    Sorry about the rant.

    Happy gaming!
  • @EA_Pulsar Lack of good updates, the game is literally the same game every season minus a new legend. After a few days, the game just becomes repetitive like every other season with nothing to keep you playing. Arenas got removed which was stupid as it provided a different kind of game play.
  • - Horrible mmr system that should never exist in a BR especially when soloQ isn't there.

    -No SoloQ in 2023

    -Worst audio of any fps

-Worst ranked reward you'll ever see in a video game (hullo s17-S18 and probably s19)

    -Crazy amount of cheaters

If the devs are trying to make the game worse every season they're killing it rn.
