Why am I getting paired with Preds?

I have been playing apex legends on and off since season 3 started off on PlayStation now Xbox( I had to start over new on Xbox due to no cross progression) and I have never been more disappointed in the matchmaking then as of recently. I just finished a game where I am level 76. I can tell you, my KD is not even close to over .75 and I am still getting paired with people who are predators from previous seasons, how is it entirely fair that I am basically a new player according to the game logic and I am being paired with someone with superior skill and knowledge to me no, I don’t competitively play Apex it’s just a fun game for me to pass the time and I would like it to be more enjoyable with me being paired with other people of my skill level. I’m not the worst player in the game but I can tell you right now I will get shredded by a predator nine times out of 10 and that one time I will get that predator. It’ll probably be because a third partied off drive to take out a predator on my own full house on both ends I can’t do it it would take an insane amount of luck on my side and bad luck on their side for me to pull that off. I think this is very ridiculous and honestly this is what is teeter, tottering my mind between just deleting Apex legends, entirely, or if it gets fixed soon then I will continue playing , but I’m very considering leaving Apex due to this poor matchmaking

  • @Jason_Anthony32 I've been playing regularly since week 1 of the game's release, and I'm getting rookie to bronze teammates in a gold/plat level match, and all the enemy players are either cheaters, smurphs, or diamond-pred players (their actual accounts, not "smurphing" persay).

This is like giving players two lab rats as teammates in an arena against cats. Clearly the two lab rats are going to be dead 100x over before ever getting a chance to best a cat, as all they can do is run and hide on repeat. This doesn't help at all.

To be honest; everyone is getting shredded by a pred 9/10 times. For them, it doesnt really matter if you are silver, gold, diamond or even master. The best preds even smurf in master/pred lobbies =) So if you are talking about pubs, then yes its frustrating to be wiped by a much better player but on the other hand; where are they supposed to play if everyone who gets shredded by them should be saved from ever have to share lobbies with them.

If you are talking ranked however, then I think your argument have much more weight. Soft resets and how easy it is to smurf is just stupid. But read the new changes to ranked for the upcoming split. Its gonna be MMR based and not RP based so hopefully, these things will get better from now on.

  • This is the Apex experience! You're either a player that is much better than your teammates or you're the other players getting punished. With each passing week the mechanisms that creates this gets worse and worse. I attempted playing last night with a friend and this was our experience. I've never been above gold in the last 10 seasons and never owned a dive trail. My teammate is a complete noob just now getting to where he's not burying his head in a loot boxes.

game 1 - made it to 2nd place only to be smoked by the the other squad. Wasn't really a fight at all. We ran into a few players who ran directly at us and put up hardly a fight.

games 2-4 - dive trails everywhere and not one fight felt like we had a chance.

game 5 - we made it to 6th place and sadly only found one fight. Landed close but by the time we got a weapon and engaged most the squads were gone.

games 6-8 - murdered by players with 20 skull badges.

game 9 - had two fights that seemed balanced only to run into a team that hit every head shot on us with about 4 squads left. I get lucky and get some good shots off sometimes but I can't headshot someone at full health running full speed 3 times in a row. My friend went down quickly because he's not as good at cover. I always take cover, heal, and move.

That was it. He's falling in love with Apex but I told him I can no longer take having 1 decent match, only to run around finding other players loot for the next 2 1/2 hours. This is a ranked experience. regular pubs is about 10 times worse. He states he doesn't see these players when he's not with me and I think that's because he's fighting bots?

As long as this game is free to manipulate, I think we'll keep seeing this, no matter what system is put up. If you had to put up some collateral like a phone number attached to your account, players might self monitor more on how they act and play?

I'll also add that the community is at an all time high for toxicity. I try to stay positive and NEVER yell at a player for being bad at a video game. I'm here to have fun. Too often now players are calling others trash for not putting up damage.

@liber8mymadne55 Yeah, Apex is a team based game but I never talk to my teammates and would even keep them muted unless they seem to be trying to work as a team.

By "trying to work as a team", I mean they're:

    - Providing cover and assistance not only to the other player, but to me as well, even when they didn't need to
    - Putting themselves out there to secure the safety of the squad, including distracting and performing tactical revives
    - Sharing loot, pinging loot with the hand icon, respecting "dibs"
    - Using the ping wheel to indicate most of their actions, and not spamming any one ping
    - Trying to stick with me and the 3rd, or just me if they're a duo team, it's hard to believe but some duos will try to stick with the random, even when they go solo, and I can respect that. Even more respect when they treat the random 3rd as if they're a teammate.

I don't see this kind of play style very often, so I rarely unmute anyone.
  • @Midnight9746 It's fun when it clicks. Someone say's one positive thing at the beginning of the match, then all of a sudden you're communicating like you've known each other for a while. Bummer we can't get more matchups like this. I know people say run with a squad but we're all on different schedules in the real world. You just got me amped up to play right now but I can't do it because I already know the outcome of the game.
