Why are Apex updates so large?

I've played Apex since Season 2 and my biggest issue has always been how big the game is. This 2.17 update is as big as Skyrim. Yes Skyrim is about a decade old but it is still an open world rpg and Apex is a battle royal fps. There is no reason why a UPDATE should be as big if not bigger than an open world game. I've had to makes choices like do I delete GTA or do I delete apex. Fallout 76 is 80gigs as a mmo open world. And it's absolutely gorgeous to explore. Why is an update 30g short of that? Minecraft is 10 gigs and overwatch is 35 gigs. I'm seeing a massive problem with updates being bigger than most large games that I play. I've been waiting since 9am this morning to play and I know I got bad wifi but I'm probably not gonna be able to play Apex for several days while I wait for this huge update. 

I know I'm only one person out of thousands that play this game but if y'all didn't add at least something meaningful to the game like a new legend or a couple of new guns or even made the battle passes actually worth the grind. Y'all lost a player. 

I'm tired of having a game I can't play. The updates is never worth the wait.
