Why do Respawn hate Octane?

@BillyCrash100 if you're regularly hitting legend each season and can our power wraith potato play using octane whilst constantly stimming you're a better man than me.
In the main, he is a weak legend - it's undisputed in the polls. Season 6 poll had him joint last (dispite your person opinions re: mirage).
If you believe Octane is a top tier legend then you're in the wrong thread.
@S1mmOJ I don't use Octane so I can't say very much regarding balance. If the community agrees he's weak then he's weak. My only problem is that your changes don't fit the character very well.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Octane is a daredevil that gambles with his own health for even the smallest boost of speed right? Your changes seem very safe and very slow in comparison to what he already is. They might make for a stronger Legend but doesn't fit Octane's aesthetics at all.
Buff him but try not to change him too much from what he's supposed to be.

There is no lore in game that points to octane having to lose health as a sacrifice for speed and being a dare devil. The two are not mutually exclusive. It is just how the Devs have opted to configure him.
Fact is...
He is supposed to be the fastest legend and he isn't. For this reason, why should he lose health for being the 3rd fastest lol.
Let me ask you guys this - do you think pathfinder should lose 12% health every time he grapples?
@heme725 Woah woah then who is the fastest? I gotta say, after playing Octane a lot more lately (due to these forums...) I can say that Octane is incredible! I mean the buff he got made him even more slick!! In my opinion; Octane is the repositioning champion. It doesn't matter where you are; He can make up for any distance with his speed.
He can really easily secure flanks- and flank even better as himself!
Plus, has anyone noticed his Jump pad is way more frequent? His jump pad really helps with closing gaps- completely negating the effects of terrain (Like a mountain side- you'd usually have to climb). I feel like Octane has even more mobility than before! Looting has always been a breeze for Octane- being able to loot areas, perhaps where the Ring is closing; While other Legends would be in trouble.
@S1mmOJ Heme here and sorry for the late reply. I was talking about how Octane is known for blowing himself up with a grenade just to save an extra second on something called "the gauntlet" and he doesn't regret it at all.
I'm not saying the lore specifies that he HAS to take damage but that he's shown a willingness to put his health at risk for a small increase in speed. His kit seems to match his values and I don't want to go away from that.
@StarMystro I'm not sure what you mean by that but I'm not calling Octane slow. I'm saying that Octane himself would prefer having a tactical he can spam for an increase in speed even if it costs him his health.

Yeah Octane fits that reckless attitude! And the payoff is sweet, for me at least. When I think of how quickly other Legends can traverse the land, I realize that the other Legends can't keep up Octane's pace. He can always spam his Speed boost- at the expense of safety.
