Why is the buster sword back??

When the Final Fantasy event first came out, the buster sword was marketed as a mythic cosmetic item that would never come back into the store for purchase after that event was over. That message was displayed over the sword and around the whole event which created urgency to purchase. However, I noticed in the store just this week as of February 4, 2025 the Buster sword is now in the store again. So can you please give me my money back that I paid for this item? Also isn’t saying that a cosmetic will never come back in the store again but almost a year later you have it in the store again isnt that illegal???? I want compensation for this for one I feel played and lied to I’ve been playing since season 2 and supported this game for a very long time but this ain’t right. Below I’m attaching an image directly from your guys’s website stating that the sword would never come back to the mythic shop after the event ended but yet here it is, I’m not the type of person to come on a form and complain about things, but this is totally ridiculous. I hope someone makes this right. But I would definitely look into the legality of this if you guys already don’t  have pending lawsuits

    Hey Pot_smoke219569,

In addition to what XHelperZ's mentioned correctly, it is worth noting that the Buster Sword R5 (the mythic / universal heirloom that can be used on any of your characters) is separate from the Buster Sword R2R5, which is the one in the event that enables all the combos and has different gameplay.

The heirloom did not return to the Mythic Shop after last year's event, as stated, and still hasn't - the one available as part of the event is not an heirloom and just works like picking up any other weapon in a match, it cannot be purchased in the shop.

Nothing has changed from that announcement last year, hopefully that helps clear up any confusion.

  • Hey there Pot_smoke219569,

Sourcing from the event, I found this:

The sword will not be coming to the Mythic Shop after the event ends, so unlock it while you can!

Which is correct, the R5 Buster Sword has not entered the Mythic Shop, but has returned as another collection event:

They could likely also release it in the mythic shop after this event, as it was only stated that in the previous Apex Legends™ & FINAL FANTASY™ VII REBIRTH Event  that would not be released in the store afterwards. I'm not sure if they have also mentioned the same thing for this event, but it's entirely possible that the R5 Buster Sword will release in the Mythics store if they haven't mentioned specifically for this event that it won't.

Keep in mind that there was no mention in the previous event that the buster sword would not return ever again, just that it won't release in the mythic store after the collection event. (This was likely specifically mentioned because every collection event before that one had the mythic items released in the store afterwards)

And from what I understand, EA does not issue refunds for these kind of cases.
You can try to open a case via EA Help, though I'm quite sure it won't prove fruitful: How to get help with your EA Account
