So let me get this straight you think kills is greater than winning, right?
So if we take the pretext of what the game is designed about and its lore history the game is about winning the Apex Game's as a TEAM.
The legends form up as team to challenge each other to be the Champion of the Apex Legends games in order to get there you have to either outsmart, out gun or out last all of the other teams.
So if the goal is to win, which it is, then the goal should be rewarded higher than kills. I mean getting three kills and 18th place is not an achievement, getting 5 kills and ending up 17th place is also not really an achievement. Getting 3-5 kills and 1st place or for that matter 2nd place is an achievement.
You misunderstood me based on my lack of accuracy with what I said. I think winning trumps everything but I certainly think kills should be 2nd behind winning and definitely over placement. I think points for kills should be the highest reward under winning the entire game. Killing should reward higher points than everything except winning.

Oh, I understood you. I'm just saying that in reconworld there would be zero rp for kills and zero rp for placing anything below first. If the game rewarded only winning then players would be forced to judge far better than they do now just exactly what behaviors contribute to a win. As opposed to doing things which offer a quick adrenaline fix while at the same time lowering the odds of victory.- 3 years ago
@reconzero Eh if that were the case then players would play even more recklessly. If only three players will be rewarded no matter how well everyone else played then what's the point? Fighting hard and getting 2nd place will mean just as much as being the first team knocked out.
I'd rather keep the system as it is but your kill points only multiply if you satisfy two conditions.
#1. Place top 10.
#2. Have a minimum kill total of 3 (or 5 whatever the community prefers.)
Slayers who aren't foolish enough to die in stupid ways rank up faster. Players that hide rank up slowly until they hit a wall. Slayers with no game sense bob up and down going nowhere.
Obviously I want no limit on kills points if that isn't already a thing. Would only worry about players boosting their rank but better players need to advance to their natural rank faster.

And it sucks. All it does is create an even more toxic environment.

Personally I don't think kills or placement should be more important than the other.
Why should getting to 5th placement with no kills have better rp rewards than say coming in 6th with 3 kills?
That's kind of * up that the dude who hid most the game gets more points.
Having kills mean less has basically turned ranked into rat and scan meta paradise.
In a game where being the best and coming out on top is priority, placement and kills should be hand in hand with winning being the most important, and appropriate bonuses for team survivability, and things like revives.- reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@XxColdFangxX

You know what would fix this problem? RP for wins and only for wins.
Also please talk more about how a win-focused ranking system creates a more toxic environment. I'm not being a smart *, I just don't play ranked (because I consider the entire idea toxic) so I'm not really in a position to know the finer points.
