Xim or similar adapter. (Asking the Devs)

Hello,

I am primarily a PC Player and pretty okay at the game. I have also started playing the game on console to get better at the controller version of the game, honestly it's not that great but manageable.

I was in party with a player who was playing on the Xbox as well and he had got close to 8 kills with ease, i asked him for tips on how to be better with the controller to which he replied " Controller? I play with a mouse and keyboard and i hate using controller in FPS games" He was like he use to play on PC and because of so many cheaters he decided to play on console with an adapter to convert mouse and keyboard input to make it work like a controller.

I asked him if it's as per terms of use, he said his Xbox account has never been banned and nobody for that fact has been banned so it's okay to use. I have a lot of games on my Xbox account and don't want to risk it which is why i am asking the devs here if my account would get banned if i use a similar adapter tp play with mouse and keyboard on console.

If it's fine then i will go get one and play comfortably and not zone in on getting better at the controller since there is honestly no point playing against a guy who uses the mouse to aim. I just need a reply as proof that it's okay to play with an adapter.

Also if you say no it's not ok, i need to know are you taking any steps against detecting these forms of input to ensure the playing ground is fair?

Other users may reply but i would rather have an answer from the developers or someone in charge of enforcing rules of the game.

Appreciate the help.

  • @StarkyGuyXbox (microsoft) has never banned a player from playing. Worse thing I have heard of is: getting a temporary party voice ban for repeated offensive language, hate speech, etc. And that is because 20+ people reported them.
I suggest not saying you use that while on xbox. Alot of people frown on that and think it is cheating.

Technically you are breaking the ToS from microsoft and EA / Respawn by using unapproved hardware.  But, you will not be banned.

  • @StarkyGuy EA won't do * to stop you, but if you use KBM on console then you and your friend are no better than the hackers you're trying to avoid on PC, just remember that while you're stomping controller players who can't do quarter of the things you've got access to because of the dated controller designs

I do understand what you are trying to say and yes it's definitely an advantage because it's mouse with aim assist basically. But i honestly do want to zone in on my controller skills it's just that the playing field is not fair and since it's not being banned means it's something that is not enforced, which is why i wanted someone who is responsible for matchmaking to answer. I enjoy playing on the controller tbh, but what's the point at good at anything when your opponents have a bigger advantage, it just leads to a road of frustration which is not why we play video games. If it's fine they should let players know if not, then make it fair and get an input based matchmaking system in place.

  • It’s very hard for them to detect on console because of the way the XIM works, it sits between the KB/Mouse and translates those commands into controller commands so the console thinks It’s a controller.  If the keyboard mouse was connected directly to the console it would be easily detectable but it’s not with a XIM.

Also I don’t think it’s as big of advantage on console as people think, from what I’ve read there can be significant input lag with these devices and there are plenty of controller users who are just as good as KBM users.

I recommend am elite controller and mapping certain buttons/actions to the paddles, which makes a big difference.

  • @GUZZ_ZYN Elite controller paddle mapping:
    Jump
    Crouch
Sprint (will seriously prolong controller joystick life)
    Reload or Weapon Swap

To me it's kinda like when Olympic swimmers started wearing full body suits instead of normal swimwear. It wasn't technically disallowed because the IOC hadn't thought someone would try something like that, and it did in fact give a very competitive advantage to people using them. Technically it's not cheating but it does give that user a distinct advantage, and the point of console gaming is we're all supposed to be on a level playing field.

  • @Pallo420I have the elite controller, i prefer the dome thumb sticks. I have paddles on the controller too. But end of the day it's a controller and my aim is decent but i get confused when someone snipes me with an r99. I know it's not possible unless you are really good at recoil control also the tracking, it's near impossible to pull off with a controller (if it was higher ranks it's fine but lower rank players i have seen them move and they have no game sense whatsoever, it's when they lock on to one person they finish them off with ease)

  • People worried about people using it on console. People are using XIM on PC with two KB and Mouses. They get almost 1:1 Ration using it as well as it enabling Aim Assist on PC while you are using KnB. This games dying. Take it from a player whos been playing since Launch. I haven't played in almost a Week. I am tired of running into hackers and campers. This game is becoming more and more unplayable. It will die in time just like TitanFall. Respawn doesn't give a * about what players think anway.

@itsNologyTTV Using Xim on PC is something else, did not know this. I play on PC and come across cheaters once in a while but did not realize some of them use XIM on PC. Sad that these guys can't detect it. I would rather just game with the controller (non ranked) and just complete the battle pass set the game aside.
