You all know me, im normally a very vocal critic of Respawn.
But now its time i take up the cudgels for them :
When Apex started, we had the usual Aimbots, ESP, Wallhacks ect. like any other Game before.
Not in a very high percentage and also it was very obvious, i invite anyone to go back in this Forum an look for posts about "Aimbot" before 2021.
Sure it was an issue, but compared to the amount of players back then a negligible issue.
Only die hard cheaters, with the knowledge (and money) were using them.
But times changed and so did the cheaters :
When a schoolkid is buying a cronus, xim, titan or RC-Filter Controllers at Wallmart, Amazon, you name it,
they normally dont think that this might be even cheating ... hey they bought the device at Wallmart ... would they sell cheats ?!?! No way ...
They think using those things is normal bcs "everybody" is using them.
This is a social issue, not a problem that can be fixed by some anticheat, but by educating our kids that gaining an unfair advantage is bad in general.
But we let our children be educated by some influencers on tiktok, yt shorts, instagramm ... no wonder they don't feel guilty.
We cannot blame Respawn for that and Respawn isnt responsible for cleaning up that particular mess !

But we can certainly blame them for not HARDWARE banning these a**holes, instead of account banning, which we all know is no ban at all (ie: keep the players online in order to keep the stock prices up).

"This is a social issue, not a problem that can be fixed by some anticheat, but by educating our kids that gaining an unfair advantage is bad in general."
These are not the kind of behaviors that you can educate away. The only thing that can curb them is punishment. Until you smack these kids upside the head (metaphorically) then there is absolutely no reason for them to stop doing what they're doing. It's no different than any other thing kids do when they know full well they shouldn't. Because they want to and because no one will hold them accountable. Sorry to say, but the only one in this equation who can hold them responsible is the developer. It's their playground and if they can't (or won't) enforce the rules then the game belongs to the cheaters.
And the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that this is the lesson of our age. There's no point in anyone bothering to learn right from wrong anymore. The only thing they need to learn now is what they can get away with. And in Apex they can get away with a lot. And I feel pretty confident that the same lesson will apply in school, in work, in relationships. The world as a whole will be poorer for it, but the individuals who learn the lesson best will rise to the top. Not sure if this is just the legacy of the internet or maybe some twisted form of pragmatism, but there you have it.

You are kinda proving my point.
But that "smack upside the head" has to happen way earlier in life and not by a 3rd party but their parents.
It has to happen before they even develop those nasty habits.
But as long as parents transfer their own duties to teachers, tv-sets, tiktok and alike it will only get worse and i tell you : we ain't seen nothing yet !
Anticheat is just fighting symptoms and not targeting the root cause, pretty much like modern medicine.
Swallow a pill for this and that, but plz dont follow a healthy lifestyle- reconzero16 days agoSeasoned Ace
Now I see where you were headed with all that... and you couldn't be more right. Sad to say.

Walmart would not sell cheats? Your young age is showing, there was a thing called game genie back in the day and it was both legal and sold, look it up...
Like every bad behavior in society, it needs to be met with greater punishment, life is about incentives, if there are negative consequences for doing an action then humans stop doing the action, **bleep** empathy is what allows idiotic ideas as soft on punishment.- r1ggedgame17 days agoSeasoned Ace
Ill bet im way older than you, if you mention the game genie ;)
I know the Action Replay and alike from my C64 days and those things were made to cheat yourself in single player games.
Classmates buying those modules got blamed for being bad at video games and laughed at.
A fun way to make them even more angry was to edit their highscores with a hexeditor while they went to the restroom during a game session.
Whereas Aimbots/Aimhelpers for FPS games had to be acquired through the dark channels, but now being sold on literally every streetcorner.
You actually had to put in effort to acquire, install and configure those things, thats why the aimbots of the early days weren't really an issue. Most people simply lacked the needed knowledge.
By mentioning Walmart i just wanted to express the customers reasoning, often not being aware they walk on the dark side by buying that kind of crap bcs they bought it in an official store.- yourfatherduh16 days agoNew Traveler
I see what you mean now, yeah, its **bleep**, the best part is, these forums are made so we can express and respawn listens but nope, they don't give a **bleep**, they are supposed to have jobs where they work on this but I bet they work 10% of the 100% time they get paid, glorified developers...
