Not much you can do, unless they ban all 3rd party devices you're talking millions of devices here.
What about my situation though, I have a Scuff to add 4 extra buttons to my controller because I didn't want to pay $180 for an elite controller (my old one broke), mainly so I can play a lot of single player games. What if I'm not using any of the macros when I play Apex, and only the additional buttons (which isn't cheating). I think they'd could only detect the device, not if macros were being used or not which would unfairly punish thousands of players.
So good luck trying to get them to allow 1st party only devices. Next you'll want them dictating what monitor and headphones they"ll allowed to use.
@DankTolietI havent said anything about extra buttons or other devices which dont play the game for you like Macros do, don't put words in my mouth in a cheap attempt to dismiss me, also avoid the slippery slope fallacy next time.
Also macros were detectable, banned or countered like 10-15 years ago, hell even EVE Online, a game thats a garbage fire to disgusting for even hobos to warm themselves in a freeezing winter night did it.

What I said is, there's no way to detect the macros themselves. They'll have to to detect the devices to find the ones using the macros and they wouldn't do it case by case it would be a widespread restriction due to manpower. That's why nothing will get done, because players using these devices that allow mods or macros and don't would unjustly punished.
- DarthValtrex6 years agoHero (Retired)@DankToliet Why don't they just work with microsoft and install a system on all xbox that randomly scans the device and controller for the software? Soft of like an antivirus, but it hunts third party software that they don't allow. If you don't have the anticheat software on the xbox you can't play..
They would have to update the definitions every few weeks. But it would make running cheats such a pain in the bum that most people would not bother. Toss in that those who use it would be identified, do a console/ISP ban for 6 months on the first offense, life time ban on the second.- DankToliet6 years agoSeasoned Ace@DarthValtrex $$ that's why, you're talking millions of dollars and millions of devices that would suddenly cease to function. Like my Scuff that I only use for extra buttons, but has the capability to use macros.
Those companies would be quick to roll out work arounds to keep selling their products and honestly I don't think MS wants to spend the manpower to fight that. They're throwing that on the shoulders of each game developer and making it their problem.
I don't know how well these Scuf and other macro devices work, I'll do some research and watch some agenda based videos and maybe it'll change my mind. I don't want to enable the ones on mine and risk being called a cheat.
