Absolute Cheat Solutions

I'm 1000+ hours of playtime and i've come across too many cheaters over time. It is obvious how unsuccessful the "Easy Anti Cheat" system has been. There is no theoretical solution to cheating, no matter how hard you try, someone is always cheating. When cheaters are caught, it only takes 3 minutes to create a new account and they cheat again. How can players be kept away from cheating in a game played with a free account? Or how do you distinguish between good players and cheaters?

SOLUTION 1:

Actually the solution is simple. You know APEX Legends maximum level 500.If you put players up to 250 level on separate servers. Those who open a new account and play the game with cheats will leave.Since it takes a long time to reach level 250, players who go above level 250 will stay away from cheating in order not to be banned for cheating, not to lose their characters and other rewards they have earned. The only loss of the person who is currently banned for cheating is 10 minutes. (time to create a new account and reconnect)It uses a similar system to CS:GO,EA Games can do better than this.

SOLUTION 2:

Although it is not very difficult to make my first solution, if you do not accept it, I have a second idea. "Verified account system" The verified account system will be as follows. A low verification fee will be charged by credit card. (The fee will be less than $1 and Credit card information is important, when the account is banned, the credit card will not work in any EA game again and an information pool will be created with the credit cards used by the cheaters. OR There can also be mobile phone number verification.) other players with verified accounts will be separated. (Banning can also be done on Computer Hardware, but it is not possible due to second-hand sales. ) However, creating an account from the same computer by obtaining hardware information can be blocked for a certain period of time. (I think this period should be at most 1 week). In this way, the cheater who will create a new account can lose more than just 3 minutes.

SOLUTION 3:
The first 2 solutions at the same time 🙂

Note: Players need to be afraid of losing their account. This can only be done by increasing the players' sense of belonging. (More stats data, more unique rewards, things earned with long playtime, etc. )

  • @l_mRGogoI don't think the solution is to make it harder for people who want to play the game to create an account. Full stop. The matchmaking in Apex depends on having the most possible players on PC, PS, XBox, etc. I don't think gatekeeping is the answer.

I also don't think payments are as much as a deterrent to cheating as you think. Many people who have been banned used their main account. Yes, persistent cheaters make new accounts, but I would like to see data saying that all of these new accounts are the only ones cheating.

If you go to the forums for paid games such as Overwatch, you can see cheating is rampant there, too.

I think that if someone needs to cheat to be the best, and they think they can get away with it, they're going to do it whether they have a credit card attached or a phone number attached. And, they're going to find a way to pay another $5 or get around other verification methods anyway.

For me, the solution is not as simple as "Absolute Cheat Solutions," 1-2-3. It's complicated and long-term. Success probably requires technology that doesn't currently exist. Cheats have to be detected and actioned. That includes devices that act outside of the gaming platform, such as strikepacks. It includes DDoS attacks.

Edit: Your idea of an increased minimum level is something they will probably put into play in ranked. That said, splitting the player base has negative consequences and doesn't take care of the problem of cheating in the first place. It only isolates high-level players from it. But that's assuming only lvl 250+ are spending money on the game, which I doubt is true. The rest of the population would have to deal with just as many or more cheaters in their lobbies.

TLDR - Cheating is a much more complicated beast to tackle than I believe most ppl understand. "I have the perfect solution" usually oversimplifies things. The solution is probably a combination of countless different things and constantly evolving software/technology. It's probably not someone one company can do alone, but instead the whole industry.

a credit card is no good but a credit report is. ask for a credit report a credit card and 100 days of purchase history. a verification of residence and criminal history. 10 living family members information and the names of your friends. and voice and face authentication as you recite mary had a little lamb then the big bad wolf took him away.

I think you understand that in my solution, getting money from a credit card is not the goal. I am 34 years old and have been playing computer games since I was 16 years old. Until today, no technological solution has been found for cheaters.

My solution is to block the cheater, not the cheat technology. How many new accounts can you open right now? Are there any restrictions? If cheaters can open as many accounts as they want, they can easily find as many new cheat methods as they want.

Think of it this way, the faucet is open in your house and water is starting to fill everywhere. Do you clean the water or turn off the tap?

Yes, as you said, technological solutions should be found. However, there is currently no technological solution. I don't like playing with cheaters, so I'm offering an opinion.

@l_mRGogo I think solution would do more damage than fix the issues, because of fragmenting the playerbase. Also, I think it's important to consider that a free to play game is not only about pocket saving, but also about ease of access and a bit about better privacy. There are a lot of people that prefer to not expose some of their data and avoid using their phone number or credit cards online. Increasing the data requirements would only make this type of people move away from the game, while at the same time hackers would increase their effort to breach the databases as there's more sensitive data stored there.
  • @l_mRGogo First, if EA wants to remain certified for PCI DSS, they can't know your actual credit card number. They can't tie an account to that credit card number. They can't share that credit number with your name between departments. No one at EA is authorized to see the number. They use encrypted tokens instead. So, first, trying to use a credit card number as a form of account verification isn't just a challenge, it's likely illegal in most countries.

Second, looking beyond that fact, how difficult do you think it is for someone who wants to cheat to open a new account with a different payment option? Would it take them 1 day, 2 days, 3 days?

So, your solution doesn't do much to actually deter cheating, and instead comes with a load of negative impacts on players who just want to download the game from the PS store and start playing. Can you imagine what some parents would do if their kid said, "Mom, I can't play Apex anymore unless you give it your bank account info or a cell phone number"?

The benefits just don't justify the cost, at least in my opinion. Of course, I respect your opinion as well. I guess EA will weigh the options available.
