Let's think critically about this topic:
- what are the odds that devs don't know that so many people hack? If they do, what good would it bring to them / company to acknowledge that given they don't have a fix?
- how many people even consider that an issue? take for example this forums and count say how many time people post about being falsely banned or not getting some cosmetics vs raising the issue about hacking... to me ratio is at least 5:1 if not higher = 5x more people care about cosmetics (that bring in money for EA) vs 1x caring about hackers (bringing no money to EA)
- look how many people are paying for cheats, boosts, profiles just to flex or annoy other players. We don't have stats but given my latest experience it is at least 5 people per each ranked game = 5 / 60 total = 8% at least... let's assume that lower level players don't and higher ranked do more like 20%+ = let's average to 10% of all ranked community actually actively supporting this thing
- Adding point 2 and 3 together I would say easily make at least half of the community either indifferent to the issue or actively supporting it = would you fix a problem that is a problem to only half of the community especially if both are still playing the game?
And now the heavy hitters:
- as per latest video on Zeus YT channel you can see that so called elite discord channel aka TOP 50? Preds are actively discussing and participating in hacks. There is another notorious discord of which I am aware of - Battlecord - where constantly people look for D3+ players (D3 basically is nub rank there)...and knowing that most Masters+, these days Diamond+ basically hack or are boosted one would ask would EA allow such discussions or not monitor and actively ban its users in Apex? No, instead they remove reporting via Discord when people run lobbies, instead you go in game (and nothing happens) or via web form and days later you get (sorry no action was taken)...
- if EA would be really against hackers, would they implement name and shame rule and ban for it posters instead? Why wouldn't one who is against hacking would create obstacle for people to call out other people just to flag their skill level? I personally wouldn't mind if someone would accuse me of hacking - would gladly provide evidence or ignore conversation depending on situation. But banning this from taking place? IDK... seems sus to me
So far in my experience only solution to hackers were:
1. community that is actively participating against them = no following, subscribing, liking, donating to even remotely suspected streamers / pros
2. community that can create custom games for only verified players (let's assume that Faceit is a good example from CS2) - yet EA does not allow such thing as far as I know.
3. community actively reviewing players and banning their participation in games via IP bans (not gonna happen in Apex EVER)
4. hackers just getting tired of hacking and having no income from it -> but games usually die shortly after as most active players are hackers at that point and when they leave noone comes back, knowing that as soon as more players come back hackers will be back as well (most likely for Apex)
Long story short = EA knows, EA decides that current approach is the one to go (milk the cow while it is still alive), scrap it and go to the next one.
