After this event I wonder if this zombies are just accounts of innocent hacked players with the game vulnurabilities:

There are lot of banned players who claims never cheated once. For example my friend got banned for cheating (he had like 0.3 k/d, terrible player) and when we download his account logs from ea website it contained lot of logins from ip adresses from China. Even with that proof he never get unbanned.
So maybe they can just login into any account they wanted. Even I uninstalled the game for security concerns my ea id is visible on the forum right now, who can guarentee they will not login into my account and get me banned now?
It is interesting that game is still available and active and not in some maintanence mode until things are resolved. Why risk security of millions of users? If there is a rce and some other hacker takes advantage of it and violate HIPAA and other things it would cost much more than what apex legends make in a year <removed>.[CM - Edited for legal chat]
and if only they had brought to the fore what active streamers have on the PC with which they stream? that is, did they remotely just show everyone what some of them actually use? this would be a scandal but the confirmation of many doubts..

It was RCE so the hacker was able to access Gen and Hal's PCs remotely and either install & run cheats or run cheats already there. Either way, EAC didn't detect anything and the wall hacks were broadcast for everyone to see. Hal was the one who said he thought he'd had aim bot installed on his machine when they suspended the match.

When will the regional finals be resumed?
- @HappyHourSumwur No one has confirmed it was rce. At this point its all speculation.
In any case, NOT a good day PR wise for both Apex and EAC (neither a good day for the devs ofc). Even if EAC detected something, not all bans are executed immediately. Or, IF it's an RCE vulnerability, the cheat code might've spawned within/emerged from the game process which isn't the usual scenario EAC is trying to detect and/or counteract.

My concern is that they will either not publicly address this, or if they do... they will not be honest and upfront about what is going on, so as the entire player base doesn't stop playing - spending.
Is it far fetched for me to feel EA/Respawn will not be honest if it means profit drops as hard as they can hit?

..... depending the outcome of an investigation of course.

Doesn't matter if this was RCE, server side, or rootkit on compromised PCs. Destroyer showed he can do both. Month ago he has sent 30+ bots after HisWattson etc.(so server side), now he rootkited (guessing) ALGS's PCs.
Remember when Titanfall servers got hacked? Fixing took so long that hardly anyone returned leading to the game dying.
So be careful what you wish for in terms of EA addressing the situation or taking action 😉
