I understand. I've been playing the game since day 1.
The reason it is an issue is because I map the buttons on the keyboard, to the controller. The left hand holds an Xbox Elite 2 controller, the right uses a mouse. If I attempt to play with the controller and the mouse without a mapping tool, the system freaks out and attempts to switch back and forth between controller and mouse, resulting in in unplayable game.
Example. The W key is mapped to the "joystick up" controller input. A key is mapped to "joystick left". Left Trigger is mapped to whatever the look down sights key is. Etc. The system then recognizes everything as a key input from a keyboard, and it never recognizes the existence of a controller (hence why no aim assist)
I then use my right hand to control the mouse. Like many mice, I still use the programmable buttons on the side to map certain inputs, such as pushing right on my scroll wheel will press the melee input.
I'm not just holding a controller or just using MKB, I'm not using a keyboard at all and need something to map the key to the controller.
I play EVERY PC GAME THIS WAY. I just need to find alternative so I can pay this game I freaking love and poured hours into. "Just uninstall" isn't an option.
First, your playstyle is an obvious outlier. Few, if anyone else in the world, uses this type of setup. Holding an entire controller left handed just to use the stick instead of WASD keys is fatiguing (and will probably give you carpal tunnel problems in the future, just FYI).
Second, this playstyle isn't supported by the game. Just like modding isn't allowed or supported. There's a big difference between what developers allow on single-player games and multiplayer ones in terms of mods. Put simply, you either need to play the game with the supported inputs or find another game (or risk a ban, rightfully).
