You literally just proved my point. You're the kind of player who kills someone and places 18th, and you think you're good.
Meanwhile, I'll place 2nd to 5th on KC and rank up. Solo. Maybe I win a fight, maybe I don't.
But I win over you.
Again, another person who plays this game and doesn't understand it. I get why you think KC is good, because you think this is some other game.
What you need to do is learn how to play. Which means stop crying over World's Edge and start winning more. Try some videos, you can watch the pros have it out, they'll teach you some things, you don't have to take my word for it, not that you would.
One day, you'll realize that being good at this game means placing higher. And when you realize that, you'll finally realize why King's Canyon is such a hateful map and stop blaming me. KC is for woobs who play something else, not Apex.

@apostolateofDOOM Then you should take my advice too, and learn how to play.
You're the same, mistaking a bad map for skill. How you win on King's Canyon is you ditch your team. That's why the map sucks.
Now, if you're team is smart enough to follow you, then sure, but what you're not following is that's on them, not on you. Not if you want to win.
You'll learn how to play better when you learn placing highest comes before killing people. Sure, you can kill people and rank up. Or you can die. The surest way to rank up in KC is to ignore people and let them die.
Should you be correct about KC? Yes. Are you? No.
If you want to play like you're talking about, play on World's Edge. That's why it is better, and it certainly should be, as they made all the improvements after learning from what was bad about KC

@KelRieverYou don't and shouldn't ditch your team, ever.
You are missing the point - You need to get high placement AND kills to climb the higher ranks as placement alone isn't good enough.
I am correct and it's going straight over your head.
@Leo_the_Lion25 I agree. The excitement of new content has faded into a dread of what they'll break next.

@apostolateofDOOM You're wrong, and I can't help you.
Yes, if you want to win, you have to place and get kill for higher ranks. But you're still wrong in the proper way to get there. Again, if you want to play like you're talking, then you play World's Edge, where you can do that.
On King's Canyon, you ditch your team. Or to say it better, you ditch them and see if they follow.
You're the only one placing kills before placement not me. Nobody said don't kill anyone but you. You just kill them later, and at the end of the game, you know, after you're already placed high because you didn't do the dur dur drop and fight, which is what most of KC is covered in.
Honestly, the way you are posting, you're agreeing with me and supporting my point. Or you will be soon. Because you'll see that if you want to place high and kill lots of stuff on KC, that it is a terrible map for dropping and fighting with your team. The worst of the two.
- 5 years ago@KelRiever I'm not placing kills before placement as it's a combination of the two but if you ditch your team you won't get many kills later on in the top 5 if you're solo against a full premade squad.
@apostolateofDOOM But that's the problem. Loot can't carry a full made squad late in the game, it's just the number of people. And sure, maybe you're thinking of 1v3 against the squad, but that doesn't happen in KC top 5 because the map is so small. Not as much as the top 5 teams doing third party all over each other again.
So, you're literally fine throwing grenades and firing into the mess solo as pretty much every team other than the one that's going to win. And that's the terrible, terrible math of KC. You're going to do fine, solo if you live to the end. You can even vulture kills.
Can't do that on World's Edge nearly as much. You won't get to the end game without your squaddies.

World's Edge is forced, hand holding rotation and battles. Very monotonous.
Kings Canyon is freedom.
It's better people get to choose their playstyle and strategy as opposed to being forced into one.

@KelRieverHow do you know which team will win in the top 5? and i'm sure there will be full squads at endgame that have bunkered in knowing the ring locations. So you camp and hide then try and scrape a kill or 2?
If any decent team see a solo straggler they will hunt you down like dogs, on any map.
Out of curiosity, you said you're gold 4? How many lifetime matches, kills, wins and top 5's do you have? - 5 years ago
Dunno? @apostolateofDOOM I could check. I basically maintain a top five of at least 1/3 of my games for all play including casual, though that gets harder sometimes just because of the challenges. It is a much higher ration in ranked until the players get better. But that's climbing through the ranks, where your beginning games are almost all top 5.
I was cruising through gold to plat in Season 4 pre split with some squaddies where we all played together. But when they switched to KC, I told them what's up. They're not playing any more than I as far as I can tell, and we all just soloed to get our pre split rank and then said we'd wait until next season.
I don't think you know what I'm talking about if you keep on thinking that you hide and scrape a kill or 2 on KC. That's literally misunderstanding what I'm saying.
What you do is you leave your team behind and head for the few unpopulated zones you have. And you make sure you last until top 5. Then you do whatever you want. You can get plenty of kills, especially as the ring gets smaller, because the map is so small you're going to vulture a ton.
There's no hunting at all in KC. The more you talk the more it sounds like you're speaking of World's Edge. In KC you turn around and mostly get your face blasted off. Especially if you are 'hunting'.
Honestly, the way I play seems to me to be more successful. You guys sound like the drop and die crowd, no insult intended. But you're not going to place high in KC ever the way you're describing you're playing What you will do is die a lot with your friends.
Play World's Edge. It is better in every possible way.

@KelRieverI would like to keep this convo civil without warning or the thread getting closed but don't worry about insulting me, i'm quite resilient. 😛
I'm confused and maybe you could explain a bit more but how is ''leave your team behind and head for the few unpopulated zones you have. And you make sure you last until top 5.'' not camp and hide?
As I said earlier, that will work in lower ranks and you'll get a few kills towards the end but higher up (maybe plat but especially diamond) you'll get pushed so fast that without a squad it will be very difficult to take just one down (especially if it's a full team) let alone have time to heal for another engagement in close circles.
- 5 years ago@KelRiever "I was cruising through gold to plat" That's not really an accomplishment. Most players in this rank just hide and wait for points.
"What you do is you leave your team behind and head for the few unpopulated zones you have. And you make sure you last until top 5. Then you do whatever you want. "
Oh it's cause you're one of those players who just like to hide and camp....
