Apex Legends - Wraith (Guide)

Wraith is one of the best characters in the current legend meta, for a number of reason, however she is also one of the hardest to use correctly and to master. This guide will break down Wraith's abilities and also (hopefully) teach you some tips and tricks about this enigma of a Legend.

Strategy

Wraith is a flanker and repositioning tool. She is really strong at assaulting positions and enemies because she's quick, silent and efficient. A lot of people try to use her tactical like Pathfinder, which is not what she is supposed to be or how you should be using her. Her tactical and ultimate get you and your team out of sticky situations or help you perform coordinated flanks.

Passive Ability - Voices from the Void

You hear a voice when danger approaches: this could be when you're being aimed at, if there's a sniper in the area, if there's a trap nearby, if people died near you or if you're in a killzone. You are also prompted to warn your teammates which is helpful at avoiding bad situations like a third-party attack or an ambush.

It's not her most useful ability but it does help in most scenarios.

Sometimes they can say obvious things, but there are times when the voices can save you while looting as you given a warning of potential sniper or shooter threats.

The biggest tip for Wraith's passive is to always warn your teammates of any sudden dangers. The voice will never lie (as far as we know), so ignoring it is not the biggest big brain moment of all time.

If you are warned of a sniper, it's always a good idea to tempt their shot (by jumping around) and learn their location. Phasing away can save your life but it could leave you even more vulnerable because of the delay before activation.

Tactical Ability - Into the Void

After a short delay, teleport into the safety of the void space. While in the void, you are immune to all damage (except falling off the map, of course) and move 30% faster. It doesn't grant invisibility, as you leave a small trail behind you as you void-walk.

It can be useful to escape a fight, however it is not recommended to activate the void walk mid-fight while you're being shot. I advise finding some form of cover so you're safe while activating the void walk, and by the time your enemy comes you'll be phasing away.

It's best use is to reposition. If the enemy has the high ground and are shooting at you, you can phase walk from one side of a road to another which is crucial for avoiding these type of dangerous scenarios. You can also use it to avoid Ring damage which is a big plus, or phase away after being revived.

It's a strong flanking tool as well since you can get into an advantageous position without the fear of getting shot, or you can use it to sneak up on an enemy and use the element of surprise to wipe an entire squad.

If you're getting shot at, you can use the momentum of sliding to avoid damage while activating the phase walk.

You can phase walk while on ziplines and jumptowers, however you cannot ride them while phase walking.

You cannot open doors while phase walking.

If you're standing still and phasing, you become completely invisible for the duration of the phase however you can still be heard.

If you're fighting a Revenant, try to ensure he uses his silence and misses it before phasing away. If he silences you you won't be able to phase away.

Ultimate Ability - Dimensional Rift

Create a teleporter that anybody can use. While setting the teleporter you can phase walk, so you can become immune to damage at the same time which is really strong at moving your entire team across a battlefield.

Use Portal + Phase to avoid damage, so you can do the following without taking damage:
- rotate your team around an enemy position

- move your team across a battlefield

- move your team into the next ring

The portal is a good flanking tool as you can set a portal near an enemy position, fight, and when you're low on health, teleport back, heal and return to the fight. If you like to troll, you can even make trap portals which lead to Caustic Gas or a spot where your enemy cannot move!

Long story short: the portals can be used to make safe rotations with your team from point A to point B or to set up a beautiful team flank.

Weapon Loadout

Wraith's abilities support a close-to-mid range combat style, so I'd recommend running:
- an assault rifle (R-301 is best) or sub machine gun (R-99 is best)

- a shotgun or Wingman

Conclusion

Wraith is a strong Legend because she is the strongest repositioning tool in the game, and in Apex positioning is crucially important. On top of this she is an excellent flanker which appeals to most playstyles. She might seem easy to pick up and use, but to truly master her abilities and see success, you must take time to practice her abilities.

@CompleatBeet I thought wraith was only played because she has small hitbox and weird animations.
  • @babyaga239 Ugh, how could I be so stupid...

@BaronKreight You'd be surprised how many people misuse Wraith!
@Anonymous Those are a few core reasons why people play Wraith, these are some others!
@asukojo And to revive downed teammates. I'll add that one.

@CompleatBeet You can use it to block door as well when ring is closing.

One side is on the door, and other is inside the ring or cliff or traps/fence or to itself to create infinite loop.

Most pro player use it on the final ring to buy more time and survive the chaos.

Tactical: Dodge grenade/arc stars, gibby ult, sneak through caustic trap/fences, flank enemy from behind or simply distracting them while your team attacking.
