@PandaMan0653I play on switch (and pc) and when playing on switch I use the default joycon controller. I had the same problem you did at first, but I discovered the problem was on my end. I replaced the side of the joycons that was defective for just $30 at Gamestop and then never had the problem again. You may want to do an input test on your controller to make sure it is working properly. Also, the Bluetooth can be an issue if using a wireless controller.
I was having controller disconnect issues on multiple games though, not just apex, so I tried the input test troubleshoot thing on the system.
Once I replaced the defective side I never had the disconnect issue again, good luck.
