Audio / Footsteps

A little info on my audio setup first. Xbox One SPIDIF to digital spitter (switch) to digital audio converter out 3.5 mm Y cable rca to Headphone amp (FIIO E09K) with 2012 AKG K702s. On the PC it's the same setup, just an extra cable going into the SPIDIF switch.

I also know what audio compressors and/ or limiters are and how to use them. I've been working with Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) for almost 15 years.

Is the audio for the Xbox different in anyway vs the personal computer? I ask, as the sounds from the console seems to just sound different. I've directly noticed that footsteps seem to be lost in the dynamics of everything (map audio ect). I don't recall having this issue ever on PC.

It's very common to get snuck up on on consoles, so odd.

Like i said above. Using headphones connected digital from both systems. Just seems odd the audio sounds different to me, just can't place it.

  • @Popa2caps From what I've seen on here it doesnt matter what you are on or using, the audio is a big issue.
  • @Popa2capsDefinitely not exclusive to consoles.
My guess is there's simply too much audio for the game to queue up and in some instances audio such as footsteps do not get queued.
It happens with healing and reviving as well. Sometimes I can hear someone reviving and/or healing from a fairly long distance behind a wall and around the corner; whereas other times I won't hear either scenario when they're just over a ridge. The audio isn't simply being obfuscated by geometry, it's just not being played at all.
