Yeah. Making this a permanent addition (as a replacement of current matchmaking) would honestly take away the encouragement to play the game.
Right now with only Melee, you at least have a chance to get away or get yourself some loot in peace if you so happen to drop into a busy area or just drop anywhere with another team. With a P2020 or any other weapon equipped, you really just have to land with someone else, and they see it as a direct opportunity to eliminate your team, which wouldn't just be frustrating, but very discouraging.
And no, this isn't a good thing. True, the chances are equalized, but this mechanic would only encourage hunters to amplify their hunt. And that would ruin the experience for both new players and less skilled players, which in turn would decrease the amount of players playing this game.
And I know there are people saying this mode is awesome, this mode requires skill from the get go. But not everyone enters this game with skill, let alone knowledge. In other words, the enjoyment wouldn't be mutual for everyone involved.
