@dSKyNafinchin Yeah I made a huge mistake when I started playing Rogue Company. I played it a good amount for a week and thought wow I'm pretty far in the battlepass, this should be easy to finish so I bought it. Little did I know how hard it would actually be. It was brutal. I didn't come close to finishing.

A few comments by @warslag and others made me realize that here's a point I didn't address. This fast progress on my alt account was a factor of playing quite a number of games, probably a bit more than 100 games in that period. It is quite likely a lot of these stars were earned via "earn 5000 XP." This kind of progress won't happen with only a small amount of games played unless one is a slave to the challenges.
Thanks for making this point I failed to mention clear. I guess I thought this was obvious and not worth mentioning.
- BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned Ace@pandareno1999 I try to complete every challenge of that week before it ends, as they are rolling it out. I also do the daily challenges every day. This season I wanted to get to 1000 kills on caustic, since he’s at a really low point right now. I didn’t play as much arenas as I usually do. Usually I play hundreds of arenas games, but this season I’ve played only around 30. As a relatively new player, and a completely new player to the battle royale genre, getting over 200 kills on a single character was hard for me. I usually play every character, and complete the battle pass before I complete my treasure packs. (I still did this season). My goal for caustic was 10 kills a day, to keep myself on track for 1000. With being forced to rely entirely on guns kill and movement, (and since caustic abilities are horrible) I improved rapidly. I was then able to completar my challenges in one fourth of the time I used to (exept for games played, those took longer 🙂 ). I can now have full confidence that I can finish the battle pass in a timely manner, so that I’m not “enslaved” by it for more than a third of the season, and can relax around level 70 and slowly just complete them as I play.
- 3 years ago@pandareno1999 That contradicts what you said originally: "I haven't even looked once at the challenges, neither daily nor weekly. And the account's battle pass level right now is 34. Zero Arenas games played. That's a third of the way to finishing, in one week without any effort. I am not getting loads of kills or damage in these games, if i did so I'd have lots more levels. I suggest after this experience that given regular play time, the battle pass is not difficult to finish, it's a breeze."
So there are factors that such as time remaining in the Season or available time to play which could lead to players feeling that completing the BP may be beyonf them. So if they then have to play a mode they aren't interested in, that would add to that frustration.
For example: I have played 133 Arena games this Seaon. And now I'm fed up with Arenas. I stopped playing around Week 8 despite my wanting to complete the weekly challenges within each week, more or less. So now I have 4 uncompleted weeks of challenges and 12 uncompleted Arena challenges within those 4 weeks. Which is disappointing. But I just don't want to play Arenas anymore.
And I came back at the end of Seaon 12 when I rushed thourgh all the weekly challenges only to fail to get to level 110. So I've been doing a lot of challenges lately. With Season 14 arriving shortly, this cycle will beging again and I'm still in the position of not wanting to do anymore Arenas.
So there you are. The crux of it is: when you don't want to play a mode; you just don't want to play it.
I think a good solution to all of this would be merging challenges with the BP. Each BP item or group of items could then have a specific challenge or challenges linked to obtaining it. The challenge should be acheivable in any mode and completable at any time of any Season. Any revenue lost from selling BP levels could be made up by keeping every Season's BP alive.- pandareno19993 years agoHero+@warslag I feel like you're maybe looking deeper into this than was my intent. Every season, we get people whining that there are arenas only challenges and that this will prevent them from finishing the BP. I already knew this is simply not true. By S11, IMO, the devs figured out how to balance the challenges so that the BP was easily achievable without playing a particular game mode. I have finished every battle pass since S10 without playing a single game of arenas.
The reason I made this thread was simply because I noticed that, on my alt account, with 121 games in the last week or two, I've gotten to BP level 37 without looking at or trying to achieve a single challenge. This took me by great surprise.
I'm not really trying to extrapolate from this anything about what finishing the BP might be like for players with minimal play time, like starting two weeks before the end of the season. I'm considering regular play time, throughout a season. Of course I would have to go insane on challenges in order for this alt account to finish the BP. I'm not exactly sure what about my statement you're trying to dispute, but ask away and I will try, if I haven't satisfied them. I think I might have misunderstood you.- 3 years ago@pandareno1999 Well, your display of bravado where you come here saying players are "whining" (which is insulting) about the the mix of modes in the challenges, is something I don't particularly like, and I feel I have to stand up for those players who protest against the way challenges are laid out, as I have been in the position, myself, of needing to use challenges to finish the BP, and wasn't able to. So I know from my own experience that the challenges are flawed.
The daily, LTM and especially the weekly challenges are a jumble, poorly organised and don't really do what they set out to do.
So if there are people who complain about the challenges, I'm here to agree with those people and put their point of view across. Plus, I have also made a suggestion about how the challenges could be integrated with the BP in a revamp that I think would make a lot of people much happier.
But apart from all that, yeah, I just don't like a section of the playerbase of a game that has a lot of obvious fundamental flaws being labelled 'whiners'.
The challenges are a mess, the way they are set-out is lazy and ugly, and they aren't fit for purpose. But it's another area of the game that is sadly neglected and part of the reason for that is because when players complain they are labelled 'whiners'.
