I get what the OP is saying. I don't like playing games like CoD or Battlefield because of the 'natural-looking' death. This is why I play cartoon-y-like games such as Apex.
Some of us are not built to be preds. Yesterday I downed a Gibby at those buildings close to what used to be The Farm just after he'd ressed a LL. He crawled under some steps and the LL went to hide as well. I downed her easily and they both huddled together in the corner with their shields up. I couldn't bring myself to kill them ... well I did - I dropped two grenades and ran off so I didn't see the aftermath.
Just last week I downed a Pathy who was huddled between two loot bins, all on his own. When I got there to finish him off he looked so pathetic I just left him there. I looted for a few seconds and came back - he was still there so I dropped a Phoenix Kit in front of him and ran off. He must have been revived as I did not get the kill. I'm just ... soft ...
I always feel there's a high number of small children playing this game (I know they shouldn't be lol) so don't feel *that* comfortable 'killing' them. I've had squeaky-voiced TMs burst into tears when killed. Yeah, they shouldn't be playing if they don't have the emotionally maturity. It's only a game, but you do get to play with some people who are immature just because when they write down their age it's just a single digit (and others who are immature because when they write down their IQ it's just a single digit).
I saw a clip once of some bizarre sand-box game that seemed to be a medieval version of Second Life. An adult had broken into some fortress a child had created and was routinely destroying it and stealing everything that the child has spent months building up. The child could see what was happening and was bawling his eyes out, pleading with the adult to stop, but the adult just kept destroying and stealing. I could never do that!
@EdwardDLuffy I knew someone said recently they were vegan but i couldn't remember who and yes you need a steak and chops to climb higher! 😃
I've never been that soft except someone i knew who i downed but they got trolled with quips and tea bagged before dropping all my gear for them. Other than that i'm pretty ruthless with everyone, even my team mates. I mean banter and trash talking, just messing around.. Unless they land on my ping when i break off from JM then Slayer protect your ears as that's the one and only thing that really sets me off into toxicity. 👿
Apex is PEGI 16 and has some darker elements in the game so i would expect there to be certain things not suitable for a minors. In other games with a lower age rating then i would have a different opinion as i have 2 small girls but in a shooter where it's recommended for those late teens/nearly at adulthood they should have a certain amount of maturity when dealing with the world online or graphical content.
Some may find it controversial but it's not my responsibility for others frankly bad parenting and letting their kids be exposed to stuff like that without imbuing some resilience beforehand or letting them play unsupervised.
When i was prepubescent i was playing Resident Evils and Silent Hill and my daughter who is only 4 has already come shooting with me and gutted a rabbit so things like the OP don't make much sense to me.
@DoYaSeeMe Ikr. Still haven't played it yet but looks good.

I didn't let my son play 'shooty bang bang' games until he was 13. He didn't mind as he seemed to prefer Little Big Planet and Minecraft anyhow. He ended up on Battlefield. He's just turned 23 and doesn't play games at all. He seems well-adjusted.
Being vegan is annoying. I've lost count of the times I've had the following conversation:
PERSON; I hear you're a vegan.
ME: Yes.
PERSON: So what's wrong about eating meat?
ME: Nothing.
PERSON: So why don't you eat meat?
ME: Because I don't want to.
PERSON: Don't you like it?
ME: Yes, I like meat.
PERSON: So why don't you eat meat?
ME: Because I don't want to.
PERSON: You must think it's wrong to eat meat if you don't eat it.
ME: I think it's wrong for ME to eat meat.
PERSON: What about everyone else who eats meat? Are you saying they are wrong?
ME: Of course not.
PERSON: Have you ever eaten meat?
ME: Yes.
PERSON: Ah-ha! So you're saying it was okay to eat meat then, but it's wrong now? That makes you a hypocrite.
ME: I used to run around naked all day, but I stopped doing that when I was four. I guess it was okay to do that then, but now I'm in my 50s, it's wrong now. I would still like to run around naked all day, but my attitude towards doing that has changed, so I keep my clothes on. If you want to run around naked all day, I'm not going to stop you, but if you do decide to do that can you let me know, so that I can be somewhere very far away.

@EdwardDLuffy He was 13 and would have already been exposed to things by that age either generally with friends at high school or in films or adverts anyway. It's the ''my kid is 6 and coming online to play this evening'' be it Apex or other shooters like COD ect and i just think this isn't something they should be doing at that age, especially unsupervised. I don't judge them at all but that's my opinion.
I imagine that's frustrating. I've had a similar conversation long time ago tbh and appreciate some might not for health concerns, they don't like killing animals or whatever other reason. I'm perfectly content with knowing i have to kill the animal to eat it. Grandparents are farmers in Sweden so i was aware from a young age of the process before it was packed and on the shelf.
Kill it quickly so it doesn't suffer and don't waste anything was and is the rule.
The only thing stopping me running around starkers is it's indecent exposure and illegal here. Also it's usually cold in the UK. 😛

That's the thing - eating meat is perfectly natural. As soon as people hear I am a vegan they immediately get defensive. I just don't like the idea that something has to die just to fill my fat stomach - but that's me. I have an issue with people who kill for fun but other than that I mind my own business 🙂
I don't eat eggs because I don't like the idea of all the day-old male chicks being killed.
I don't drink milk, eat butter, cheese because I think drinking/using a fluid created by another animal's body is a bit ... icky ...
Hey! I am in the UK! If you're ever in Devon PM me so we can meet up (post COVID) for some Apex tales and tips :D
- 5 years ago@EdwardDLuffy Heh, I used to get the same conversation, but not about being vegan (which I'm not). I simply don't drink alcohol, at all, because I don't like it. There's no religion or trauma involved, and that confuses people around me even more.
People have a very hard time accepting values that are different from their own. What can you do, human nature is not perfect... - Lord_Scorpion345 years agoLegend

I don't care if someone is vegan. That's their choice. As long as they're not the preachy meat shamer types I always see. I also don't get vegans/vegetarians that eat things that resemble meat. Like if you're going to not eat meat, take the full plunge & don't eat something that looks like meat either lol.
- 5 years ago@apostolateofDOOM That’s why I threw the hemophobia clause in there. Other than that, it’s weird for a person to point out a feature of the game that has explicit markers saying Pegi-16 & violence aka there’s blood involved and say that he isn’t going to play it anymore knowing full well that those things are in place xD.
Reminds me of that beautiful thread about religion and that the guy isn’t going to play the game cause his religion isn’t in the game and his religion dictates that he cant play games with other religions in them LOLZ- 5 years ago@Koochi-Q I do wonder where some of these people come from... xD
- 5 years ago@Koochi-Q I remember that one but I'm convinced they were trolling ...

@EdwardDLuffy I've always loved milk and still do but have to admit after watching star wars the last jedi and Luke getting a drink from that creatures breast i never thought of it in the same way. Which is strange as i seen cows be milked loads of times.
Definitely! We're off to the pub and you're driving! 😛
@Koochi-Q To think they're the future. Where did we go so wrong?
