But unless you they recently added it you can either disable all quips or non at all.
My advice... less dying, putting your headset off your ears, mute the audio equipment, scream bloody murder, power of your console or pc or have a killswitch for your whole house or that section of the house to switch off the electricity XD
I mean it's not like it makes me particularly angry or anything. It's just kind of demoralising when you're coming in with an improvement mentality and bobby big balls with 3 years of experience and 40k+ more kills than you beats you, and his character goes "ha ha you are trash m8 xD"
Fundamentally it's no different than manually sh*t talking your opponent (something that I assume is explicitly against the rules?), except the game automates the process for you every single time. I'm not against people doing that if they want to, but for me personally, I'd just rather not hear it when I'm learning a new game against experienced players. Let's say you were playing someone in, oh I don't know, SF3? And they beat you handily because they have years of experience over you, and after you lose, they look at you and say "wow bro, you are fkn trash LOL". Not conducive to a positive, improvement based atmosphere. Literally no logical or even technical reason why I shouldn't just be able to disable it and move on with my life. A single toggle in the options.
- 6 years ago@i_hate_gameing You make an excellent case.
In the mean time, if you makes you feel any better, like you said kill quips are automatic. Compare that to the usually trash talk you get from competitive games and those remarks are solely made and aimed at you/your team. These kill quips however are played for every player they manage to take down, regardless of how much of a fight you put up against them or how close the fight actually was. So those quips really don't reflect how well/poorly your opponent thought you did, and are only effective if you believe you did poorly.- 6 years ago
I appreciate that, but especially when you're a beginner, in almost any game, you KNOW you're bad, you really don't need a player fully decked out in microtransactions and with a clear and significant experience advantage to also have an automated sh*t talk bot attached too. Ultimately, I understand that it's not possible, and further discussion is pointless until such time as this changes, but realistically it wouldn't change anything whatsoever to add a toggle, beyond making the experience slightly better for players who find the automated behaviour tasteless and demotivating.

I recommend using Killer voices. it masks kill quips with voiceovers of your choosing. Theres a few free voices and some cheap ones you can buy.
