I'm with Marge010 I think they broke caustic. his ult is horrible now it takes 3 and a half minutes for it to only do like 10 damage. I've been maining caustic for a while and with them nerfing him he's just so much worse than he used to be. he needs the gas. he doesn't have any other type of protection with his huge hitbox. Gibby has dome and arm shield, pathfinder has grapple but caustic only had his gas and now with it doing barely any damage, he doesn't have much protection anymore now people can run right through his traps when before they'd have to decide if it was worth it and take at least some damage. I get he needed to be nerfed but I don't think they should've gone this far.
- Marge0105 years agoSeasoned Ace@Guinness12407 I'm now finding since this update that enemy players are no longer bothered about the gas where as before they would think twice about flying into a building. I think its daft that his ult is also nerfed to only 5 damage per hit. Makes his ult pointless. They should at least bring back blurred vision. Caustic is by far less affective now and seems quite useless.
- hayhor5 years agoHero@Marge010 I'm not sure what lobbies you usually land in but I can tell you that good players would push through the gas before. Maybe lesser players are doing it more now. Either way I like when people push into my gas. That is what my gun is for. Same with the ultimate. You throw it properly, catch them in it and shoot them.

Honestly feel like people see caustic as useless now because their ability to camp out in a building has been diminished.
The Gas doesn't do enough damage..his gas pods break too easily.. it's usually the same arguments.
For players who main caustic I can see why the changes would be annoying, it's always annoying when your fave legend is doing less that what it used to, but any time I've seen anyone play him, it's always the same strategy, pick a building, block the doors with gas and wait.
It still does damage. Not to your shields, but to your direct health, maybe not the op amount it uses to do, but still, damage is damage. I still very much rather stay out of his gas and avoid unneeded damage.

@XxColdFangxX Eh I had a lot I was going to say but that was too long. He's the weakest in a 1v1 and he's now only the 2nd (arguably 3rd) best defensive Legend at fortifying a building. The other two defensive Legends arguably better at defending a building (Rampart and Wattson) are better in an open field than he is. They also nerfed his use for aggressively attacking other campers when they took away his ability to throw his tactical through windows. He's starting to look like a 2nd rate legend among one of the weaker classes in the game.
Honestly the most annoying thing about fighting Caustic now is that it'll take longer to heal up after killing him since syringes are slower than shield cells. I don't think anyone fears fighting a Caustic anymore he's just annoying.
Btw that strategy of camping a building you mentioned is only used by the worst Caustics. Every Legend has the equivalent like an Octane who rushes into a fight then dies long before his team can catch up.

@heme725If he's so bad now why do players still use him?
He was too op as he was. Nerfs needed to be made. It sucks that he's so slow without a damage buff like gibby, but his gas even though weaker than what it was still does provide extra damage to your enemies.
My opinion still remains the same. You can't effectively camp with him any more and you're forced to be more strategic. When before when all they had to do was hold up in a building with gas traps all over the place and wouldn't have to leave unless the circle wasn't on their side, before the nerf it was near impossible to flush out a well stacked team with a caustic. Now you're required to rely more on your own skill than the damage of your gas..
A strategy only used by the worst caustic? I sincerely doubt that. There is nothing preventing players from using camping strategies, good or bad alike.
Why should his gas be blinding? It's not smoke, and quite a few gases are not only unsmellable, but unseen.
Why should his gas cause so much damage that even a confident well stacked team has issues pushing a hold up caustic?
Why shouldn't it be easier to break his pods when you can literaly destroy ramparts barrier before she even gets it set up?
