They no longer activate if you place the trap next to doors. When the door opens it blocks the line of sight for the trap. People can walk right by them making the traps fairly ineffective at the dou...
@DarthValtrexI gotta admit, I've not noticed this. I believe you I guess I just dont spend a lot of time in double door areas. If I do I dont hide the traps. They are usually right in front of them.
Edit: Actually I think it has always been like this. Think about it. If you block a door and someone walks up to the other side the barrel doesnt go off. So if you place a barrel on the side the door opens to the door then blocks the barrel. So always place the barrel to where the door will not open to.
@hayhor You might be right. But some of these situations the people are walking right by them and they are not activating. I do remember the traps used to go off if people were on the other side of the door.
The whole idea with the traps in my mind is to get the enemy in the gas. The only way to do that is to hide them. Maybe I'm not playing caustic enough this season and my placement is not that great right now.
For this door: The hinge is on the right, the opener is on the left. You're inside trying to defend the area.
If you:
0. Put the trap exactly in front of the door, you will basically lock this door, enemy has to destroy it to open it up and trap will trigger. The trap won't trigger if they just stand on the other side.
1. Put the trap on the left side, it will absolutly trigger when the door open or enemy peek the window.
2. Put the trap on the right side, when the door open and enemy walk in, the door itself shield the enemy from trap sensor so it doesn't trigger.
Especially if they turn right after entering the building. If they walk straight, it might but the effect will be minimum.
@hayhor They used to go off if someone was on the other side of the door.. They fixed that so you would not burn up traps so fast if you were trying to hold down a building. This was waaay back I think Season 3 or possibly 4. I do wish the doors would trigger them when the door opens. When they are next to the door like what I posted, they won't go off unless the enemy basically jump right on them.
I'm not a block the door type with gas. I want to get people in the gas and kill em. So my trap placement is always done with the goal of getting enemies in the gas. The only times I'll block doors is when I need to heal or revive a teammate in a sticky situation.
@DarthValtrex There's another reason for blocking doors you've missed bud, and its an important one lol.
Narrowing your opponents routes of attack.
If you block all doors in a larger building except one, they'll often look for a route around to get in, at which point you've basically just manipulated the environment to create a choke point.
I do this a lot and the amount of times you get numerous people trying to rush through the same door is silly....the fight essentially becomes a firing range lol. 😛
@MandatoryIDtag I like my experiments with the gas... Plus I know how frustrating it is being stuck in the gas and dying because of it.. Especially when your 2 teammates have told you the caustic is 1 shot and he's not.. hahaha
@hayhor Buildings with ton of doors I don't even bother trying to block them all. I focus on a small POI that is the most favorable for the given building... I have tried the blocking doors method and been in the situation in which I run out of traps so I try to avoid it. It does work but I go into a panic when I run out of traps. That typically only happens when third partying happens. So I tend to pick an area that's high ground for the building and has areas I can lay traps that are difficult to shoot down.
