Cheating and Smurfing Getting Out of Control

I encountered too many cheaters in this week, some of them in my team some of them were enemies. Most of them were on new accounts. I'm pretty those people have multiple accounts.

I think it is time to restrict one account per person. People will be less likely to cheat or smurf if it puts their main account on risk because of the badges/skins etc.

It is also creating a chain reaction because if you keep get killed by a cheater you can also get really tilted and start to cheat on second account. Or just switch to a new account when get tilted and kill lower ranked players to repair your ego.

Typically when making sure that players aren't using alt accounts, methods like comparing IP addresses and HWID's are used.

Though such methods aren't really that precise for knowing if a computer is being shared.

Meaning that if you were to allow one account per IP or HWID, people cannot have multiple accounts on a single device, even if these accounts belong to seperate players.

So I personally think it wouldn't really be possible to restrict the amount of accounts per device.

Users that have gotten banned for cheating in the past usually have methods used against them so that are used to detect them again.

Meaning that if someone cheats once, their device will be logged, usually banning any new accounts instantly or soon after.

Though sadly enough these methods are usually easily bypassed, meaning that these types of protection systems wouldn't really help a lot.

Now, I think it's still entirely possible to battle cheaters with new algorithms and all kinds of crazy tech, though this takes time, a lot of it.

Though whilst the anticheat is updated, cheat developers will also start to update their stuff, meaning it's just a crazy war that'll probably last for a long long time.

Smurfing however, is a bit harder to tackle. (I believe smurfing is throwing to stay in lower ranked matches so you can stomp them)

Alt accounts are typically made to grind to their current rank, which can be considered pretty normal.

If players do not play for a while they're going to get put into a lower rank, which technically could be considered a flaw with this system.

I barely see players throw matches on purpose to stay in a lower rank, so by definition, there probably aren't a lot of smurfs.

Next to that, it's nearly impossible to know if someone is smurfing as they could just be a good new player, or an alt account.

If they were to show behaviour of being really good and sometimes throwing, well, it would be possible to detect that if blatant, though if it weren't, it could be considered having good and bad days.

Overall, these issues suck a lot, and they're just hard to tackle I guess.

  • @XHelperZ Smurfing in ranked we all know has been cleared and "ok'd" by the Respawn team for the grind. However any smurf account in pubs is there strictly to pound the competition and should never be allowed....period.

I also have to respectfully disagree with your comment above "Next to that, it's nearly impossible to know if someone is smurfing as they could just be a good new player, or an alt account."

It is very very easy to spot a smurf account in pubs. Yes I will agree with you that some ppl out there are so good at aiming and firing from many previous shooter and can apply that talent over to any FPS game....however, watch the player for less than one minute and its extremely easy to spot a smurf. You will see they have the map memorized to a science, they know where every short cut is, where every lil hidden gem is and loot bins, their movement is all ready god like. They can shield up slide, ping and jump and do 180's all at the same time. Their ping system is perfect, they rotate perfectly and know where all the funnel spots are and where everyone is going. They have looting death boxes and swapping inventory etc down with lightening speed, and I know I'm leaving out many other easy indicators to know without a doubt or hesitation that you are looking at a smurf account - doing all that while at level 4.

    Really??
  • Yeah of course it is not possible to prevent it completely but even it is possible to bypass them people will less likely to risk their main account. It is pretty efective on the Faceit, hundreds of people getting banned for ban evasion per month.

Right now there are no measures and I just killed a cheater 5 minutes ago. What prevents me from playing with cheats on my second account? Nothing.

  • @el7uarvszheoThere is no smurfing anymore infact they use the number of smurfs in their overall counts of players so they will never stop that especially since they allow every single pred and streamer to do so. So I hate to say it bit thats just the reality of it. As for cheating its not going to be dealt with it this game too will go to the cheats just like titanfall. Anytime you wanna have a hope they may fix or do something just remember titanfall and how poorly they did with that.

Smurfing definition : "I need to feel good about myself by getting as many kills as possible, against much lesser opponents".

I know someone like that. Always complaining about tougher lobbies and wanting to be able to get 20 bombs all the time. Its rather pathetic that that is how

one feels good about themselves. Makes me cringe as I grind my butt off with Randoms who now would rather rat it out to make their rank, and couldn't fight their way out of a

wet paper bag (because that's exactly what the new rank system promotes)

There's actually a lot more they could do to combat cheating, they just don't do it.

EASY anticheat ? Why would you even call it that ? Because its so easy to circumvent its ridiculous.

If they actually went after these clowns that are promoting their hacks on YouTube and elsewhere, slammed them

with actual penalties, fines or what have you, it may send a message to anyone trying to deliberately cheat or promote them.

I laugh at how these clowns put a disclaimer on basically saying "this is for informational purposes only, what you do with it is on you" but then

in the same thread have a link to a place where you can "buy" the hacks they promote or have made.

Anyways, it is just ridiculous how bad the cheating is. Its really unfortunate, because I really like this game.

I say to all those still trying to grind through the garbage, combating the infinite no recoil, wallhacking, ESP, strike pack ,  script kiddies and yes, pro streamers

blatantly using them.... I feel your frustration, keep fighting the good fight !! Good luck .

It's hard to control smurfing in a game where you reset ranks.  Everyone's a smurf.  You can tell more towards the end of a season.
But cheating?  It's on a whole new level now.
