Compliance of desktop display & gamma control utilities under EAC

  1. Hello EA / Easy Anti-Cheat Support Team,

I am writing to request technical clarification regarding third-party desktop display control utilities and their compliance with Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) rules in Apex Legends.

Specifically, I would like to confirm if running a background utility that adjusts monitor color profiles and display resolutions via official Windows and NVIDIA APIs is fully compliant with EA Terms of Service and EAC policies.

The utility in question operates under the following specifications:

    1. Display Gamma: Uses standard Windows GDI APIs (SetDeviceGammaRamp) to modify desktop color ramps at the OS level.

    2. Digital Vibrance: Calls official NVIDIA driver APIs (nvapi64.dll - NvAPI_SetDVCLevel) to adjust digital vibrance levels at the GPU driver layer.

    3. Display Resolution: Uses standard Win32 APIs (ChangeDisplaySettingsExW) for resolution and refresh rate switching.

    4. Process Detection: Uses system snapshot APIs (CreateToolhelp32Snapshot) to identify when a target game executable comes into focus to auto-apply color profiles.

    5. Zero Memory / Game Interaction: The application does NOT open process handles against r5apex.exe, does NOT read/write game memory, does NOT inject DLLs, and does NOT hook DirectX/Vulkan render loops.

Could you please confirm whether background software utilizing these standard Win32/NVIDIA display APIs is permitted and safe from anti-cheat flags during gameplay?

Thank you for your time and clarification.

Andreeivlad2007 This is the EA Forums, (not EA or EAC Support), however to answer your question:

    • As long as you are not gaining an unfair gameplay advantage, it should be fine, (but I recommend using the in-game settings to be on the safe side).

  • Thanks for the reply! The app I’m using is an all‑in‑one replacement for vibranceGUI, QuickResChanger, and GammaUtils, but with a more modern interface. I normally run my PC at full HD resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 50% vibrance. When I play, I use the app to switch to 16:10 with 100% saturation and a 0.97 gamma setting. So there should be no issue?

Andreeivlad2007 I never heard of those apps before, so I can't say for certain you'd be fine or not.

How can I get in touch with someone who can give me a clear yes or no on this? The chat bot on their website is absolutely useless.
